VERA (Female)

I'm Vera and came to the shelter quite a few years ago together with my sister. We look almost completely alike and when we were puppies people could only separate us because of the little white mark i have on my front paw. It was very funny how even the long term volunteers got confused about who was who. When we became teenagers things started to change. My sister was the happy young doggie who loved all the humans and all the other teens in the puppy house. She seemed so full of life and happiness while I got more and more shy and had problems to integrate. It felt like i was loosing my sister. There used to be only her and me and all of a sudden she was super friendly with absolutely all of them and spent less and less time with me. So i started to isolate and became super depressed. The volunteers got really worried about me and when all the bigger teenagers were moved out of the puppy house and into the bigger compounds, Linda and Jay decided to let me stay in the puppy house where they could keep a proper eye on me. It did me good to stay with only the very little ones for a while. Some joy of life returned and eventually I was ready to be moved out of the puppy house too. I had enough confidence in myself to walk with my head up high and was ready to bond with some of the bigger dogs too. My sister and I have grown apart, which is ok. We are just too different and we are both happy now in the compound we are in.

thank you so much to Alain and Lori to sponsor Vera!
