Hello, My name is Merida! I'm very happy to live at the Dog and Cat Rescue Center. My life on the outside was actually quite ok and I have no terrible horror stories to tell. However, I never really belonged anywhere and didn't want to either. Since I was a very young dog, I've always been on the move and never felt like settling down anywhere. My mother never trusted the humans so it was normal for me to believe that humans are not allowed to touch dogs and I should better not get too close to them. That has not changed until today. The long term volunteers at the shelter can touch me if they really want to but it doesn't mean much to me and I don't need cuddles from them. I'm just happy that I can stay here at the shelter and that they haven't locked me up in one of the outside compounds right at the back where there is no chance of moving in and out of the compound. Thankfully I have been registered in one of the front compounds which is right beside the big open kitchen area and therefore close to the main entrance as well. I can see all the action and often wait at the gate until one of the workers or volunteers walks through the door. Fast like the wind, I would then sneak into the kitchen area and play around with the dogs there. I know the rules and I know i have to behave when i go into the kitchen area. Fighting with other dogs or bothering the customers and their dogs is strictly prohibited. As long as I follow these rules, the Dog Rescue people have no time to care if I stay in my compound at all times or go in and out as I please. That's pretty cool though! I'm grateful to be here and hope that one of you decides to support me with a sponsorship.
Iris from Germany will take care of me in the future. Thank you very much!
