DANCER-MUM (female)

I used to live in a beautiful and save Temple area, had a lot of other dogs to play with, got food several times a day and even had my own puppies once...whole 10 of them! Thankfully meanwhile I’ve been sterilised so that can’t happen again. Months later and back at the temple, I caught a very bad virus which makes it almost impossible for me to control my body. My head and back is constantly moving back and forward.. I’ve been left with permanent neurological damage and will have to spend the rest of my life at the shelter. Thankfully I am not the only ‘dancer’ (as they often call us) here at the shelter and have almost gotten used to it. I have certainly accepted it…

Unfortunately Dancer-Mum passed away. Our thoughts are with her.

During her time at the shelter, Alex and Pauli from Munich in Germany were looking after her. Thank you very much.

CHARLENE (female)

I came to the DRCS after I was hit by a car. Unfortunately there was not much that they could have done with my leg and it looks like I won't ever be able to walk properly again. I was so sure that my owner would come back to take me home after I finished the treatment...but he never came. I'm now trying to settle in here and make my peace with the fact that I have lost my family. With a bit of luck someone else will one day give me a new home....

Unfortunately Charlene passed away. Our thoughts are with her.

During her time at the shelter, Liz and Chris from Melbourne in Australia were looking after me. Thank you very much.

MOLLY (female)

I don't really like humans that much! Even though I do know that the DRCS-people only want the best for me, I don't like to be touched. I once had a lovely family that I loved and looked after but since they are gone, I prefer to have my peace and keep a distance from humans. However, I do well here at the shelter and love to watch my doggie-friends playing...

Unfortunately Molly passed away. Our thoughts are with her.

During her time at the shelter, Nicola from Germany was looking  after me. Thank you very much.

MARLO (male)

I am already quite an old dog, but very happy that I don't have to search for food myself. All that I can remember is that I was brought to the shelter after an accident and that I barely had any fur left (not counting the wounds). My hair is slowly growing back thankfully. Hopefully I will look like a normal dog soon again. Now I spend most of my days in front of the Ventenarians Office and watch all the comings and goings from the shelter. What more could I want?

Unfortunately Marlo passed away. Our thoughts are with him.

During my time at the shelter, Timo aus Spesbach in Rheinland-Pfalz in Deutschland was looking after me. Thank you very much.

TOTTA (female)

Unfortunately Totta passed away. Our thoughts are with her.

During her time at the shelter, Geraldine from The Netherlands was looking after me. Thank you very much.

WERNI (male)

I was a Tsunami victim. Petra found me in Takua Pa (that is very close to Khao Lak). Petra fed me and my four friends every day until she could bring me to Samui. But when she brought the cages for me and my friend one day, my friends ran away and only I stayed. I was brought to Samui where I live in the shelter now.

Unfortunately Werni passed away. Our thoughts are with him.

During her time at the shelter, Jessica from Germany was looking after me. Thank you very much.

GOYA (female)

My sister Kabora and I had to hold out for quite some time until we were finally rescued. Someone informed the shelter that we were abandoned in a small empty hut in the jungle. For years we used to live on the streets of Samui where there are enough waste bins everywhere and therefore enough food. But what to do out there in the jungle? After days of sitting around hungry, the DRCS-Volunteers found us and brought us to the shelter. We both quite like it here and enjoy the delicious food….

Unfortunately Goya passed away. Our thoughts are with her.

During her time at the shelter, Daniel from Germany was looking after me. Thank you very much.

SUMMER (female)

Me and my kitten-friends were all chased into a corner, thrown into a box and dropped at the DRCS. There were many cat families where we used to stay - too many I guess and the owners of the Bungalows wanted to get rid of us. He didn't get us all and thankfully stopped after filling up two bags with us kittens. It all doesnt matter now, we are happy at the DRCS and perhaps we will find a new family one day....

Unfortunately Summer passed away. Our thoughts are with her.

During her time at the shelter, Beatrice from Germany was looking after me. Thank you very much.

SAHARA (female)

I was still so tiny that I can hardly remember what I have been doing before my life in the animal shelter. I can not even remember my mom. Here, in the home of Brigitte and Werner I was nursed, got a bottle of milk every day, and rolled around with the other small cats. Unfortunately I still have not found an own home, but keep onbelieving that I willbe adopted one day.

Unfortunately Sahara passed away. Our thoughts are with her.

During her time at the shelter, Josee from Icking in Germany was looking after me. Thank you very much.

KING (male)

I seriously have no idea why the hell I’m here in this Rescue shelter. I am the King! (or so I though) Apparently some strange humans didn’t agree with my behaviour and the fact that sometimes I gave back when I was treated badly. I nipped some people a couple of times, not serious at all but obviously serious enough for the manager of the resort I used to stay. I was removed in with no time and give my best now to settle in. It’s not too bad at the shelter but too many ‘Kings’ for my taste.

Unfortunately King passed away. Our thoughts are with him.

During my time at the shelter, Jamie was looking after me. Thank you very much.

FOXY SONG (female)

My master took me to DRCS for neutering. After that I was supposed to stay another three weeks at DRCS because he had to visit family. My master had paid 600 Baht (20 Baht per day) for my stay at DRCS and I assumed that he would pick me up after. After one week in a terrible single cage, I was taken to kennel no. 8. There a whole pack of dogs attacked me. I was very scared. They only wanted to sniff me out, but there were so many... After a while they all had “greeted” me and left me alone. I was waiting for my master! One month passed and nothing happened. Two months passed and nothing happened. I do not know how many months have passed - he has never returned.

Unfortunately Foxy Song passed away. Our thoughts are with her.

During my time at the shelter, Uschi and Günter from Cologne in Germany was looking after me. Thank you very much.

JESSY (female)

My story sure is similar to many others. My owner brought me to the shelter, even paid everyone for the DRCS to take care of me and to give me food and anything else I needed and then just never came back. The phone number was disconnected and so I turned quickly into an official DRCS-dog. Unless someone wants to adopt me, I will have to spend the rest of my life at the shelter. Not something I can get really excited about.

Unfortunately Jessy passed away. Our thoughts are with her.

During my time at the shelter, Hortense from Berlin in Germany was looking after me. Thank you very much.

FELIX (male)

I was abandoned outside the gates of the DRCS in Chaweng. They put me in a little box and just left me there. Thankfully the people from the shelter are all really nice and so I actually feel very comfortable here. It was great to meet my sponsors Anja and Sascha from Germany here at the DRCS.

Unfortunately Jessy passed away. Our thoughts are with him.

During my time at the shelter, Anja and Sascha from Hannover in Germany were looking after me. Thank you very much.

JEN (female)

Unfortunately Jen passed away. Our thoughts are with her.

During my time at the shelter, Sharon from Austria is now looking after me. Thank you very much.

SCOOBY SONG (male)

Linda and Jay, two long-term volunteers from the DRCS, found me outside the shelter gate one early morning when they arrived for work. I was being chained up on the main gate and was waiting for help. My owner just abandoned me when I got sick and started loosing weight. In with a short period of time I turned into a starving looking dog and just didn’t feel like eating anymore. Thankfully the two volunteers decided to take me to their home, where I stayed for several weeks and got intense treatment and the chance to totally recover. After that I got my vaccinations and was then taken to the shelter for castration. I quite like it here and I’m thankful that the DRCS-people let me run around freely. I actually live in the open kitchen area but decided to go outside the gate every so often to see my playmates. Of course I always come back in when it’s time for dinner, who would want to miss that!

Unfortunately Scooby Song passed away. Our thoughts are with him.

During my time at the shelter, Tanja from Mainz in Germany was looking after me. Thank you very much.

ENZO (male)

When I was still small, my owners brought me here because I was hit by a motorbike and couldnt walk properly. They told me they would come back for me but when the people at the DRCS tried to contact them to say I could go home, the phone number didnt exist. I've been here since 2011. I don't think they're coming back for me.

Unfortunately Enzo passed away. Our thoughts are with him.

During my time at the shelter, Gabi and Erich from Ternitz in Austria were looking after me. Thank you very much.

NADHUA (MALE)

Because of a big fight I came to the DRCS and also because I drawed the short straw. The maggots almost killed me, when I surrendered and allowed people to catch me everything happened very fast. I got an injection and when I woke up again, I found myself in a weird flagged box. But the great thing was that I didn’t have the feeling to be eaten up again. I submitted the every-day wound healing because I thought that the maggots could attack again. That was such a horrible time for me, whereas wound healing is a great pleasure… After endless days or weeks I got into a big compound where it is quite nice. The bowls are always full, what more do I want? This is what I looked like after 6 weeks:

TENNO (male)

Maybe you can't tell by looking at me but I am The Great Chicken Hunter. I was wandering around my patch one day when I came across a chicken house with many many chickens in it. All the chickens were kept in very small cages with no chance of running free. It wasn’t much fun hunting them but I felt it was important to check out the situation. As I walked by the many, many cages, giving a good sniff to each inhabitant, the chickens started to scream blue murder! They screamed so loud that the local people came running in and chased me around with sticks. Eventually I was cornered in a toilet and I thought they were going to kill me. Thankfully, someone telephoned Brigitte who arranged for my removal to the big shelter. As I wasn’t prepared to stop hunting chickens, I had to stay at the shelter. It’s OK here but it can be boring without the chickens.

Unfortunately Doris passed away. Our thoughts are with him.

HOBO (male)

I was brought to the shelter in November 2005 by some tourists. They had found me on the street without fur and with a whole in my leg. I really looked wretched! I was brought to the shelter in Ban Taling Ngam where my wound was treated immediately. There, the helpers also washed me regularly with a disgusting stinking stuff. That was against the mange that had caused the hair loss. And look how it worked! After 2 months my fur had grown back completely and the wound has healed as well. I now live together with my doggyfriends on the terrace of the shelter. Every time visitors come I am among the first ones to greet them.

Sadly Hobo passed away from a heart faliure. Our thoughts are with him.

During my time at the shelter, Bine from Berlin in Germany was looking after me. Thank you very much!

MAX (male)

I was dropped at the DRCS when I was still a tiny little kitten and scared of everything that moved. Even the poodles scared the hell out of me. Thankfully that has changed and I turned into the king of the house. Brigitte even calls me cheeky. I guess that is a compliment!?

Unfortunately Max passed away. Our thoughts are with him.

During my time at the shelter, Gerlinde from Germany was looking after me. Thank you very much!

ROSY (female)

Unfortunately Rosy passed away. Our thoughts are with her.

During my time at the shelter, Rosemary from Melbourne in Australia was looking after me. Thank you very much!

DONA (female)

I was born near a hotel in Lamai where I lived for the first few weeks of my life with my brother and my mother. However, somebody put poison down to kill the rats and my mother ate one of the rats. She died a long and lingering death because of that poison. Brigitte heard about this and sent someone to collect us but, by that time, my brother had also died. I live now at the big shelter and Brigitte has promised me that no one will ever poison me. I miss my family but this suits me just fine.

Unfortunately Dona passed away. Our thoughts are with her.

During my time at the shelter, Angela from the United Kingdom was looking after me. Thank you very much!

LOVELY (male)

Me and my brother Struppi were living at a very nice resort right on the sea for many years and had a great life! Like everyone else too, we got older and both reached the point where we are no longer able to run around the beach and make sure that no younger dog steals our place. The body aches and the teeth are falling out and even getting up to look for food has become a huge effort. When the hotel manager changed, people were no longer allowed to feed us so things got really hard. That’s why we gave in and decided to retire at the DRCS.

Sadly Lovely passed away from a heart attack. Our thoughts are with him.

During my time at the shelter, Alexander from Switzerland was looking after me. Thank you very much!

DIABLO (male)

Sadly Diablo passed away from a heart attack. Our thoughts are with him.

During my time at the shelter, Dina and Alain from Eglisau in Switzerland was looking after me. Thank you very much!

MIO (female)

Isn't it crazy that people would first buy me in a pet shop and a few months later abandon me? I am still very sad, that I lost the family I thought loved me and would care for me. Now I live at the DRCS and hope that one day a new family will come along and give me a home.

Sadly Mio passed away from a heart attack. Our thoughts are with her.

During my time at the shelter, Corie from Sydney in Australia was looking after me. Thank you very much!

KUNO (male)

I lived on a beach quite close to the Big Buddha, i had a great life there. When I got this terrible demodetic mange, I was reported to the DCRS from concerned tourists. Sadly no one was willing to give me medicine and just wanted me off the beach. The DCRS team didn't have a choice but to take me to the shelter and beginn intensive medication. Even though I still have the mange, the DCRS team can at least take away the itch and with the right medicine, none of my bare skin gets infected anymore! I am glad they are helping me, but I can't help but miss my beach.

Sadly Kuno passed away from a heart attack. Our thoughts are with him.

During my time at the shelter, Helga from Auer in Italy was looking after me. Thank you very much!

HELMO (male)

Unfortunately Helmo passed away. Our thoughts are with him.

During my time at the shelter, Anja from Schorndorf in Germany was looking after me. Thank you very much!

MONA (female)

Since I was a little puppy I believed that our family was a little strange. We are 6 brothers and sisters and every one of us looks totally different. One is white/brown, one is black, the other has a little beard, another one has quite short hair….a total strange mix! Even our characters are different. I don’t remember where we were born. We were separated from our mother when we were only 8 weeks old, totally mangy and underfed and therefore nobody wanted to adopt us. It looks like we will spend our life here at the shelter- not too bad though but an own family would definitely be a dream!

Unfortunately Mona passed away. Our thoughts are with her.

During my time at the shelter, Dominika from Wolfsburg in Germany was looking after me. Thank you very much!

LIANA (female)

After I was hit by a motorbike, some lovely Thai people brought me to the DRCS where I got immediate car. Thankfully I recovered quite fast and in with no time I could stand on all four paws again. I've always felt very comfortable at the shelter and love the cat house. I believe the DRCS people could tell so too and therefore never bothered to bring me back on the street. Puhh...lucky me! Things are good now and I look forward to spending the rest of my life here.... unless some nice person comes by and decides to adopt me of course...

Unfortunately Mona had to be put down. Our thoughts are with her.

During my time at the shelter, Markus from Berlin in Germany was looking after me. Thank you very much!

SEVEN (male)

I realized, that nobody belived in my full recovery, when i came to DRCS as a little kitten.
At Brigittes House i got the best therapy and the volounteers patiently cleand up after me.
Today the worst is over and i am happy that i can stay in this house.
I am even calles "the little wonder"

Unfortunately Seven passed away. Our thoughts are with him.

During my time at the shelter, Michaela and Alex from Germany were looking after me. Thank you very much!

RUSITA (female)

I am one of the most beautiful cats at the shelter. People always adore my 3-coloured fur and the of course my sporty figure, too. Why nobody has adopted me so far is a bit of a mistery to me. I am good looking, get along with the other cats and love to be petted. Never mind, I’ll keep trying whenever someone comes to visit and maybe one day I will get my own big fancy house.

Unfortunately Rusita passed away. Our thoughts are with her.

During my time at the shelter, Mervi from Finnland was looking after me. Thank you very much!

AJAX (female)

I didn't look very well when I first came to the DRCS. I never really had a home and didn't feel comfortable on the street. I was just never one of those dogs who could walk confidently up and down the main road looking for food and stopping for a cuddle with the tourists. I was scared of people and never found enough food to make my belly stop rumbling. Thankfully I was allowed to stay at the DRCS after my treatment was finished. I think they knew that I'm no good living on the street. I have found many friends here and enjoy a great meal every single day. What a life!

Unfortunately Ajax passed away. Our thoughts are with her.

During my time at the shelter, Malli and Rudi from Germany were looking after me. Thank you very much!

DICKER (male)

I used to stay in Chong Mon at the DivePoint. For many years I was protecting the place, doing a real good job that no bad people entered the shop. About five months ago I decided to not like children anymore and attached several of them. Not bad though but I have bitten 3 children and that was reason enough for my people to have me removed. Even I don't know why I did that....I think they were just too loud or something. Now I live at the DRCS and try to become a good boy....

Unfortunately Dicker passed away. Our thoughts are with him.

During my time at the shelter, Alexandra from Germany was looking after me. Thank you very much!

JUPTY (male)

One of our volunteers arrived one day wanting to carry out a census of all us dogs. What followed thereafter was a great game of ‘Catch me if you can’! Petra ran around the compound trying to catch each dog to take its photo. All of us dogs let her get quite near us before we ran away in the opposite direction. What fun we had that day! As the day went on, Petra’s face got redder and redder. However, in the end, we let her take each of our photos and now here I am. Nobody knows how I got here or when I got here but here I am and here I will stay unless someone on the island wants to give me a home.

Unfortunately Jupty passed away. Our thoughts are with him.

During my time at the shelter, Linus from Germany was looking after me. Thank you very much!

SOFIE (female)

I'm a pretty old dog already and had a great time on the beach outside a lovely resort. Unfortunately they decided to have me retired at the shelter and not on the beach.... they believed I was too old to look for food and just didn't want to take care of me. It's ok though, I'm old and grey but have settled in fine and the other dogs are pretty cool, too.

Unfortunately Sofie passed away. Our thoughts are with her.

During my time at the shelter, Elsita from Germany was looking after me. Thank you very much!

LEISO (male)

I guess I was playing a little too ruff when it all happened. I cut myself open pretty badly. I was rushed to the DRCS with a huge wound along my front where I got immediate medical attentio n. Thanks to the lovely vet Anna from Germany who took such intense care, I feel much better and can even play with the others in the puppy house. My wounds are almost closed and things look pretty good again.

Unfortunately Leiso passed away. Our thoughts are with him.

During my time at the shelter, Tanja from Germany was looking after me. Thank you very much!

BERTI (male)

Unfortunately Berti passed away. Our thoughts are with him.

During my time at the shelter, Corie from Australia was looking after me. Thank you very much!

RICKY (male)

Unfortunately Ricky passed away. Our thoughts are with him.

During my time at the shelter, Dina and Alain from the Switzerland were looking after me. Thank you very much!

LYSANDA (female)

Many cats prefer the free and crazy life out there and honestly, I was one of them. But since I came to the DRCS and started sleeping in a real bed, always have some food around, no dog-danger and snuggles here and there, I changed my mind. Especially the tourists are great, they give us never-ending snuggles and often some really nice treats, too. Recently I moved into the cat house at the shelter in Baan Taling Ngam and it's actually just as much fun.

Unfortunately Lysanda passed away. Our thoughts are with her.

During my time at the shelter, Gerlinde from India was looking after me. Thank you very much!
