MOPSI (male)

I often was abused by my owner and I was rarely unleashed to walk a few steps. I had to sit in a very small cage for the whole day and without food or even water. To be caged and without any playmates or people, who love me was very lonely and frustrating. But I was very lucky because two tourists offered my owner money to get me free. After long hesitating he said “yes” and the two lovely people released me from the tiny cage and brought me to the DRCS. Here I live now with Brigitte and Werner, together with a lot of playmates and my fur has started to grow again!

Unfortunately Mopsi passed away. Our thoughts are with her.

During her time at the shelter, Claudia and Jenno from Hamburg in Germany were looking after her. Thank you very much.

RITA (female)

I spent the first few months of my life in front of a little supermarket. I actually had everything a little puppy like me could have wished for. I got petted the whole day and spoiled with chews from all kind of different people. Whenever it got really hot outside or it was poring with rain, I was even allowed to sleep inside the office. Why they had me removed from one day to another, I do not know. I now live at the shelter and get very excited whenever someone comes to give me a little snuggle.

Alana from the USA is now looking after me. Thank you very much!

AMORA (female)

We came to the DRCS when we were 6 little puppies, mangy and sick with all kind of things. We were brought into the puppy house where we settled in fast and ate our pills every morning and evening. Unfortunately nobody ever wanted to adopt us because we didn’t have a nice fur and needed special care. Now we are too big for the puppy house and were moved into the teenager compound. Thankfully it is right next to the puppy house and close to the main entrance so we still get to see all the action.

Alana from the USA is now looking after me. Thank you very much!

CHANEY(female)

ROGER(male)

Me and my friend Robbin were hanging around at the large open space in front of the house in Chaweng. We already had befriended Princess and Max (sponsor dogs 9), well, Max did not like us too much. But he could not do much against us, since we are young and dynamic and he is old and fat. But he constantly stirred things up and therefore it was noticed that we had made our home in front of the gate. During the day many dogs are running around the large open space. But in the evening the neighbors take their dogs into the houses. We were standing around this open space and it was obvious that we did not belong to the neighboring houses. Therefore we were taken to Bahn Taling Ngam. We were neutered and are now living in the teenager kennel no. 10.

Unfortunately Roger passed away. Our thoughts are with him.

During his time at the shelter, Hans from Switzerland were looking after him. Thank you very much.

REINER (male)

They have given me the name of Reiner but I also go by the name of Mr Mysterious. Nobody at the shelter knows where I came from and I'm not telling them anything. The food is better here than my last abode and I always have plenty of water to drink.

Unfortunately Reiner passed away. Our thoughts are with him.

TRAVIS (male)

After a bad fight with another dog (he attacked me without warning from the back) animal friends who live on the island got me to got DRCS. They promised me to come back again. Unfortunately theyve forgotten about me pretty fast and never returned. As no one knows where exactly Im from, they cant bring me back again. Im more of a quiet dog, I dont need to be in the spotlight all the time. The other dogs usually leave me alone and if theres a dog looking for a fight I simple walk away. Im actually a real softy and love to snuggle - I would love to find an owner for myself. But you cant have everything, right. All in all Im happy at the shelter. There is always enough food and some of the other dogs aren't even that bad.

Unfortunately Travis passed away. Our thoughts are with him.

During his time at the shelter, Jutta from Germany / Italy were looking after him. Thank you very much.

SPORTY(female)

Nick from India took me with him to Bangkok. Unfortunately he was not able to take care for me there since they had only a very little room for the whole family in Bangkok. I love to run and jump around and definitely need some space! In Bangkok you can only find government animal shelters and they are mostly full. Nick didn't want to leave me there, so he brought me to Koh Samui to DRCS. Here I run around in the shelter and play with my doggie friends the whole day. That's a lot of fun! Of course, I would prefer my own little family but you cannot have everything

SISSI (female)

I was chased away by all the dogs (especially the women were bad) on Choeng Mon Beach and I had to walk in the water in order to not get bitten. The tourists there watched the whole thing a while and then got scared that I could starve or drown. I didnt know where else to go even though chances are they all attack me at ones. The tourist got me to the DRCS. At that time I was about 7months old and just ready for the sterilization. After the operation I was allowed to stay at the shelter as it was impossible for me to return to Choeng Mon Beach.

Unfortunately Sissi passed away. Our thoughts are with her.

During her time at the shelter, Barbara from Germany were looking after her. Thank you very much.

OLIVIA(female)

I was brought to the shelter by Alan from Australia. He realized that I was sick and he could not look after me as he was returning home. I felt really unwell when I came here and could do nothing but sit. It turns out I had tick fever. I was given special medication and gradually picked up over a couple of weeks. I became so well, I made a break for freedom. However, I was brought back as I am not really able to survive on the road. Also the food here is better than on the streets (I've put on sooo much weight since coming here). This is the second time I have visited the shelter. The first time I was only in for neutering and was put back on the street as I was in good condition. As I left the last time, I was given a collar with 'Feed Me' written on it and many tourists did feed me. Now I'm happy here at the shelter and this is where I will stay!

Unfortunately Olivia passed away. Our thoughts are with her.

During her time at the shelter, Katarina from Slovakia were looking after her. Thank you very much.

FATTY (female)

I was thin as a rake and could barely stand up on my paws when I was discovered by a few nice people who brought me to DRCS. There I was served a real good meal. Since I had not given up on me during my time on the street, I recovered quickly. I became stronger and gained weight with each passing day. You can see the result on the left side. I settled down at the sanctuary and I am always in the first row when they give out rolls. Since some time the hotels on the island started a great service. The helpers from DRCS can pick up day-old rolls from the hotels. They still taste very good and I think that the hotels which do not participate in that service, reheat the rolls the next day and serve them to their guests.

MONTE(male)

My little sister Chubby and I were abandoned by our prior owner. Apparently the neighbors all complained about us. We don't quite understand why we were left at the DRCS. Anyway, we are making the best of the situation and both live together in a lovely compound with a lot of other playmate. The food is pretty good and people are making sure that we are doing alright. All in all things are pretty cool....

Unfortunately Monte passed away. Our thoughts are with her.

During her time at the shelter, Christina from Germany were looking after her. Thank you very much.

BROWNY (male)

I was living unrecognized in kennel no. 8. Being a brown dog, you get away with that for a while. But not forever. One day the helpers came with injection needles and flea powder into the kennel. Everybody was given an injection and flea powder was rubbed on us. It was a nice game. We ran back and forth and around and played cat and mouse with them. Well, the game ended at one point, and I was the only one who was not white with powder. I then realized that the helpers did not randomly seize us but that everybody had a card with his information on it - but me. The helpers were very detailed that time and picked me up. But I did not get a massage with white powder. Instead I was put into a single cage - like a criminal! Well, to make a long story short, I was castrated the next day and I am back in “my” kennel.

Unfortunately Browny passed away. Our thoughts are with her.

During her time at the shelter, Josie and Nicole from Germany were looking after her. Thank you very much.

KIRA (female)

My owner Sharon brought me and my friend Kevin to Brigitte. Brigitte was supposed to take care of us until Sharon would take us to Spain. That's what she promised. Unfortunately, Sharon didn't keep her word. Brigitte wrote to Sharon many times asking whether she still wants us or not but Sharon has never answered. Now we are at the shelter and it is not so bad after all, even though we were really looking forward to go to Spain.

Unfortunately Kira passed away. Our thoughts are with her.

During her time at the shelter, Elke and Stefan were looking after her. Thank you very much.
