AGAPI(female)

Dany from DIVEPOINT has found me left alone in a corner of her office in the Boathouse hotel at Choeng Mon Beach. We have waited for my mom for a long time but she didn't come back. Then, Dany has brought me to Brigitte. She was immediately charmed when she saw me. I was exactly what Brigitte thought to be a very beautiful cat. We have played and cuddled a lot and I don't have to worry about going to Ban Taling Ngam. I feel great here and cannot imagine a better cat life.

HELLA(female)

I came into the shelter as a very small puppy. Nobody thought I would survive because I have got wonky front legs. However, I had every intention of surviving and I'm having a great time here! I play with all the younger dogs and my particular friend at the moment is Grumpy. I don't know why Grumpy was called Grumpy as he's always fun when I'm around. Brigitte says I will stay with her at her house for ever and ever and I'm glad of that. At the big shelter, there aren't so many human visitors there and I like humans. They are good fun and they play with me.

SABI (female)

I was brought to the DRCS when I was a little tiny kitten. Some tourists found me on the roadside and figured that my mum would not come back. They put me in a cage for four weeks and made me watch all the other cats running and playing around. Don’t think that I enjoyed that! But unfortunately there are so many dangerous viruses in Brigitte and Werners house and a lot of little kittens, so they all have to be vaccinated first and then stay isolated from the others for some time. This procedure has saved many lives already. When I was finally allowed to leave the cage, I showed my best side. And it worked! After I got spayed, I didn’t land up in the cat house at the big shelter, No, I was brought back to Brigitte and Werners house! I have a lovely soft fur and love to be snuggle.

SANTIA (male)

I was picked up from the street and brought to the DRCS when I was still a little mangy teenager. Thanks to my young age (and my good looks), I was allowed into the puppy house. Even though I had to stay in isolation for the first two weeks and could only from far watch the others playing, I thought it was pretty cool to have all those other playmates around me. It didn’t take long for my fur to grow back and finally I didn’t feel like scratching myself all day long. I don’t know exactly what then went wrong with me. I felt a little dizzy and was brought to the vet. Unfortunately I cannot remember what happened after that. Back at the puppy house, I couldn’t stop shaking and until today I look like I’m constantly listening to some really crazy techno music. A lovely volunteer explained to me that I’ve got a really bad nervous disease. It is often difficult to get up the steps and I only wish I could control my shaking whilst eating my food as it tends to get a little messy. However I have to say that I’m loving it here and I have found so many friends which I wouldn’t want to miss anymore. Thanks to my nervous disease, I can stay in the puppy house as long as I wish.

BUBY(male)

Alice and Alfredo found me on the road and I guess because of my pretty ugly look, they decided that I would need some help. They then brought me to the DRCS where I am recovering now. I have already put on some wait and my fur is slowly but surely growing again -which is pretty cool though! I am not sure yet where I am going to live once I am big and strong and hairy but I don't really care at this point of time.

JOSIE(female)

We are mother and daughter and were living very happily with our owner until she decided she couldn't look after us - we have special hair which has become matted because our owner wouldn't brush us or give us a haircut. So, soon we will be visiting Sakda's Beauty Parlour when we will get a cut 'n' blow dry and possibly even a manicure. Brigitte says that, if a new home is found, the two of us must stay together.

MORENA (female)

I was brought to the vet in Chaweng by compassionate tourists because I suffered a bad eye infection. They couldn't save my eye but since I was at the DRCS anyways they sterilised me. Brigitte was of the opinion that it would be too difficult for me to catch mice and other small animals every day. Therefore, I was allowed to stay in the house. For a long time I lived together with Brigitte and Werner and – in the meantime – about 50 other cats. After a while I found it too boring there, so I started to attack the other cats. Just for fun. The others did not find that very funny and I got in trouble very often. Since I was the one to blame I was brought to the cat house in Ban Taling Ngam. Here, the garden is much bigger and there are not as many cats as in Chaweng. I am always happy about visitors. Since they have a lot of compassion I am the one to be cuddled the most.

Unfortunately Morena passed away. Our thoughts are with her.

During her time at the shelter, Cheryl from Melbourne in Australia was looking after her. Thank you very much.

Only after five days at DRCS I looked much better!

STAR BAY(male)

I am Star Bay and looking for a godfather. Previously I lived in the bungalow resort Star Bay in Lamai. They didn't want me there no more and would have probably killed me. The Manger, who was in the Star Bay previously, had just abandoned me there before he left the island. Now I am in Brigittes and Werners house and loiter the entire day in bed around. I am very mangy in the face, but I am rubbed now daily with Ivomec. And it should be a panacea against mange. I hope that I never have to go back into this terrible bungalow resort. There nobody stroked me any more. At the same time I am a super cuddle and become to be stroked gladly. I am house-trained, although in my manner! I contribute considerably to the cost-cutting in the DRCS, because cat litter is expensive in Thailand.

SPIRIT (female)

BLINDI(female)

I was dumped as a small puppy under a car when my owners realized I had no eyes. I was still a puppy when they brought me to the DRCS. I am the only dog at the shelter who has stayed for ever with Brigitte and I have a special status here so am allowed to sleep in the bedroom with Brigitte, Werner and a select group of cats and sometimes some dogs. I protect Brigitte and Werner from anything. I am always on alert in case I am needed. I like to chase flies in the garden but am not very successful at catching them. I'm not too keen on the pedicures I am given here.

During her time at the shelter, the user of www.zocker-elite.de was looking after her. Thank you very much!

LIREU(male)

My Thai owner brought me in to the shelter because I had mange. My owner wouldn't bring me back for three weeks in a row (treatment is one injection a week for three weeks) so I stayed in the shelter for that time. However, my owner never returned to take me home and I miss him. I'm amusing myself taunting the other dogs here in the shelter but I'd rather be at home.

EGG (male)

I’ve been living on Chaweng beach for many years now and got everything under control there. Whenever a new male dog shows up I immediately play the boss and unless the newcomer accepts that, I won’t let anyone into my territory to beg for food. The Buri is the most animal friendly hotel on the island and many guests return only because of us dogs. The lovely female dogs in my territory are doing a good job keeping the stray ladies away. Don’t get me wrong, I don’t mind new ladies but my harem thinks that it’s enough already. It’s important that we make sure that we don’t get new dogs into the area all the time then surely the management would not appreciate that. In the evening I usually take a walk on the beach road and sometimes I even go to the GreenMango and check out the wild night life…unless there are some lovely tourists at the hotel and I’m allowed to sleep in their bungalow, of course that’s when I happily give the night life a miss. Thankfully that happens quite a lot. Normally people can only sponsor dogs and cats staying at the DRCS, but Johanna and Ed know that I’ve been regularly checked by the DRCS and that’s why I now have two lovely sponsors looking after me.

During his time at the shelter, Johanna and Ed from Veenwouden in the Netherlands were looking after him. Thank you very much!

LUCKY (male)

I was always hanging around Maenam Beach. There I was sitting on the beach with a wound on my head, when Jonas came along and brought me some food. That was delicious! Of course, I followed Jonas to his bungalow where he lived with his wife Elisabeth. I parked myself there and only left to go to the toilet. Elisabeth and Jonas took care of my wound and gave me a bath and I was allowed to sleep on a soft blanket next to the bed. Very soon they realized that I am deaf since I never reacted when they came home and called my name. Therefore, they brought me to the DRCS. Actually, they wanted to give me to some friends but they suddenly didn't want me anymore. Elisabeth and Jonas cannot take me home because they don't have enough space. But they keep on trying and maybe I will fly to Germany one day. Until then, I stay at the big shelter in Ban Taling Ngam. It's no problem for me that I am deaf since it doesn't stop me from playing with my doggie friends all day long.
