DEMI(female)

When I arrived here I had a very bad skin disease, unfortunately not only in my face. Salve was applied daily and after an endlessly long time I started looking really nice again. I had to sit in a kennel for many weeks, I just wanted to get out of there. When I finally could leave the kennel, the others were really nice to me. I settled in the huge pride of Brigitte and Werner very well and I would like to stay with them forever. I heard some stories about the cat shelter in Taling Ngam: they supposedly don't serve freshly cooked fish in the evening?!? – can't believe it!!!

Unfortunately Demi passed away. Our thoughts are with her.

During her time at the shelter, Angela from Australia was looking after her. Thank you very much.

SIPSIH (female)

My owner had brought me to the DRCS for a month because he had to go to Bangkok. The price for food (20 Baht a day - about 50 Cent) he paid for one month in advance. That was 6 months ago. I haven't heard of him since. His phone number is not existing anymore and I have given up waiting for him. I like it at the shelter and play a lot with the other dogs.

CLEO (female)

Petra (my favorite volunteer) came one day to count all the dogs. We made a big game "catch me if you can" out of it. Petra ran across the shelter and tried to make a picture of every single dog. We all let her come very close and then ran away in different directions. We had great fun that day! After a couple of hours Petra's face became really red. After all, we let her make a picture of all of us and here I am. Nobody knows how I got here or when. But here I am and here I will stay. Except someone from the island wants to take me home.

Unfortunately Cleo passed away. Our thoughts are with her.

SWISS(female)

Swiss was supposed to stay with us “temporarily” only. We never heard of the owner anymore. The telephone number he gave us on the file card was wrong. Swiss is a bit shy and - as all the dogs who already have been living with an owner for a longer time – feel sad at the beginning. By and by he will feel better. With the other dogs he gets along well

Unfortunately Swiss passed away. Our thoughts are with her.

During her time at the shelter, Christina from Freiburg in Germany was looking after her. Thank you very much.

CILIA (female)

I was living in Lamai and surviving on food given by tourists in some of the restaurants there. However, one restaurant owner in particular didn't like me and kept chasing me away by throwing things at me. I nearly got run over by a car when he chased me on to the road. One of the tourists picked me up and brought me to the shelter where I now live. The food isn't as good here (I like human food which has been dropped on the floor, mixed with dirt and stood on) but I'm happy enough.

Unfortunately Cilia passed away. Our thoughts are with her.

DONALD (male)

Ian and Allison found me behind MacDonald's and brought me in because I wasn't well at all. I stayed for weeks in Brigitte's house because I was so weak. I'm now much better and I live in the compound outside Brigitte's house. When anyone comes to visit, I'm one of the first to say hello (very loudly in case they can't hear me properly).

GEROLD (male)

I came with Ellen, Raoul, Tamila and Tiana to DRCS. We were put into a cardboard box and placed on the back of a pick-up belonging to DRCS. Fortunately it did not rain that night. We cried as loud as we could all night, but nobody heard us. Since the box was tightly secured and we were only six weeks old, that is all we could do. Finally in the morning somebody found us. We were so hungry! Brigitte was very delighted when she saw our group in the box. In the beginning Werner gave us additional milk in the bottle. We all felt very comfortable here at DRCS. There was ample food, and most of the big cats were nice to us. The whole day was filled with eating, sleeping and playing. We met Lisa. Lisa (sponsor dogs and cats 25) is a very special cat. She is devotedly taking care of all kittens. She lets us suck at her nipples - that is really calming. And she always cleaned us thoroughly and showed us how to do that. Lisa has nurtured so many kittens without mothers - that is why
she is loved very much by already grown up cats. We had to be quick to get a place at her breast. Since we were taken care of so well by Lisa, we are all big and strong by now. We are still living at DRCS and feel very comfortable.

Unfortunately Gerold passed away. Our thoughts are with him.

During his time at the shelter, Renee from New York in the USA was looking after him. Thank you very much.

MILAY(female)

I was simply delivered here. Arrived here, I was a long time in a single box, because everyone thought, that I would be an evil attack dog. Then the attempt was made to join me once with other dogs. All colleagues viewed strained after me, and I felt very important. All dog friends were sniffing at me. After finding also a tennis ball and was in the 7th sky. I am not an evil attack dog. I dear my tennis ball, which I also need for sleeping, and I have now correct outlet again cause the boys throw me always even once the ball.

Unfortunately Milay passed away. Our thoughts are with her.

During her time at the shelter, Sarah from England was looking after her. Thank you very much.
