CORDULA (female)

Jenny from Sweden was looking after me now. Thank you very much!

Cordula ran away.

ZORA (female)

I had lived for a while in the shelter in Ban Taling Ngam. I ate a lot, drank a lot of water and ran around with the other dogs. One day, Petera came, a new volunteer helper - with a camera and an assignment. Every dog in the shelter was isolated, identified and a picture was taken. We felt like criminals at an identification parade. Then, it was found out that nobody knew my name, where I had come from or how long I had been in the shelter! But now I got a new name which I like very much!

Silke from Lüneburg in Germany is looking after me now. Thank you very much!

LEONARDO (male)

I had lived at the south end of Chaweng near a artists shop (therefore, my name). The owner was happy with me and I was happy with him, except that he wouldn't let me chase cars. Every time I ran on the street to get a bite of a tire (the faster the car, the better) my friend grasped and turned pale. Finally it was too much for him, because he got really scared that I could be injured badly (until now I had been hit by a car three times already). So I was brought to the shelter where the fastest thing to chase is the wheelbarrow. But that is not as much fun as chasing cars!

I have very big luck because was chosen from Anna from the Animal Protection Network in Sweden. (www.animalprotection.se). to fly to Sweden. She saw me on the homepage und decide to take me to Sweden, so I could have a better live. The organization paid the fly for me and now I live very happy in Sweden. I love my new home very much! The sponsorship for me is a birthday present from Marianne from Dättlikon in Switzerland to her friend Eveline.

Eveline from the Switzerland looked after Leonardo as I was in the shelter. Thank you very much.

MANDY (female)

I hung around in Nathon near the place where the fishermen bring their daily catch. I liked it there because the sort out fish was thrown in my direction. Yammi! But I got greedy and began to steal the fish that was to be sold on the market. After a while the fisher boss was fed up and brought me to the shelter. Mean guy! Now I get chicken instead of fish.

Great news: I have found a home on Koh Samui:

While I was in the shelter Marion from Murnau in Germany took care of me. Thank you very much!

PRITTI (female)

I had lived in a house with an elderly woman and my cat friends Mai Tai, Moon, Tinker, Loony, Billy and Noodles. We pleased our owner while sitting with her and purring all day long. She loved us very much, but she got sick and had to move to her son who lives in a far away country. Our owner wanted to take us but her son didn't want that because he had four dogs already. Therefore, we were brought to the shelter where we share our new home with a lot of new cat friends now.

Angelica from Sweden is looking after me now. Thank you very much!

MAI TAI (male)

SINCE I HAD ALWAYS BEEN AN EXCELLENT CLIMBER I BROKE OUT OF THE OUTSIDE ENCLOSURE. I COME BACK TO THE SHELTER ONCE IN A WHILE TO EAT SOME DRY FOOD. THAT I GOT TO KNOW IN THE SHELTER AND I LIKE IT VERY MUCH.

These are my four sweeties!

MAIKI (female)

I was brought to shelter by some nice "white people" because their neighbours had thrown me out of the window. And I was only looking for a place where I could have my babies. I couldn't walk right after that but after the rain comes sun - the accident was good because I was brought to Brigitte's house. Two days later I had my four kittens and another two days later another three kitten (same age as my babies) were brought to me because they had been dumped. I have seven kittens now and I love them all.

I am not looking for a sponsor anymore because I preferred to run away after my castration. I do not think that is gonna be a problem since I cannot have babies anymore.

I adopted the three other colors!
ALEXA (female)

I was one of 6 kittens from HERZILEIN (page 3). Unfortunately our mom ran away and all my brothers and sisters died. We were fed by Brigitte and Werner ever three hours but only I was strong enough. Besides that MAEO (page 17) took care of all of us. When MAMEAU (page 14) arrived she had three kitten and I got fresh milk again. I have recovered and as you can see on the picture I am very pretty. Maybe Hollywood will call?

After a while I found it too boring at the shelter and ran away.

While I was staying at the DRCS Anke from Germany was looking after me. Thank you very much!

BROWNY (male)

I was living unrecognized in kennel no. 8. Being a brown dog, you get away with that for a while. But not forever. One day the helpers came with injection needles and flea powder into the kennel. Everybody was given an injection and flea powder was rubbed on us. It was a nice game. We ran back and forth and around and played cat and mouse with them. Well, the game ended at one point, and I was the only one who was not white with powder. I then realized that the helpers did not randomly seize us but that everybody had a card with his information on it - but me. The helpers were very detailed that time and picked me up. But I did not get a massage with white powder. Instead I was put into a single cage - like a criminal! Well, to make a long story short, I was castrated the next day and I am back in “my” kennel.

Josie and Nicole from Germany are now looking after me. Thank you very much!

ROMY (female)

I was found by some tourists as I roamed around the mountains on Samui. I had been abandoned by my owner and I was starving and very thirsty. The tourists brought me to the shelter where I was put on a drip because of my dehydration. I got much better very quickly and, several months later, I am now happily living in one of the compounds with my new doggy chums. I don't have to worry any more about getting food and water as there is always food and water here.

Britta from Germany is now looking after me. Thank you very much!

TRUDY (female)

I left the shelter after about six months with a really nice couple. I believe they are now my new family. They seem really nice and so far they´ve given me a lot of love.Carmen from Lichtenstein is now looking after me. Thank you very much!

Text will follow soon

SADIE (female)

My story is just like any others: My owner dropped me off at the shelter for spaying and promised me to pick me up again after 1week. Unfortunately it never happened and I've never seen him again. The helpers followed the contact details on my registration card and found out that the address doesn't even exist. Has my owner planned it all from the very beginning? I am very sad to be left behind but my life will go on at the shelter. I feel more and more comfortable with all these big dogs around me and I am usually the first one at the gate whenever we get visitors. ..... It might be my good old owner..?

After a while at the shelter Sadie decided to take her life in her own paws again and run away.

Mandy and Daniel from Erfurt in Germany are now looking after me. Thank you very much!

SCARLETT (female)

I was brought to the shelter because I was almost naked. Of course, I was to be castrated as well. However, since I wasn't very strong they waited with the operation. After I had spent a lot of time in a singlebox and my fur had grown back, nobody could find my admittance card. No one could remember where I had lived on Koh Samui before. As I had waited in a singlebox for so long (and I wasn't a criminal) they had to find a solution. The solution was easy. They opened the door of the singlebox and I jumped outside. Now I live in compound no. 10 with many other dogs. It is the most beautiful compound and I hope that the helpers won't remember where I come from. I won't tell them. You can be sure about that. The food is very good and there are many pals to play with. What do I want more?!

My owner showed up at the DRCS totally unexpected and took me back home.

During my time at the shelter, Werner from Heilbronn in Germany was looking after me. Thank you very much!

TRAVIS (male)

After a bad fight with another dog (he attacked me without warning from the back) animal friends who live on the island got me to got DRCS. They promised me to come back again. Unfortunately they´ve forgotten about me pretty fast and never returned. As no one knows where exactly I´m from, they cant bring me back again. I´m more of a quiet dog, I dont need to be in the spotlight all the time. The other dogs usually leave me alone and if there´s a dog looking for a fight I simple walk away. I´m actually a real softy and love to snuggle - I would love to find an owner for myself. But you cant have everything, right. All in all I´m happy at the shelter. There is always enough food and some of the other dogs aren't even that bad.

Jutta from Germany (living in Coccorino in Italy) is now looking after me. Thank you very much!

DAM (male)

I was brought to the DRCS by some tourists since I was very skinny and they thought that I wouldn't survive. The food from the trash bins I had to live off was not good quality and there was never enough to get full. I stayed at Brigitte's and Werner's house for many months. When I was strong and big enough I had to move to Ban Taling Ngam. First, I didn't like it there at all. But now I live in a beautiful compound with bananas and have many pals to play with. When people come to visit I take care to be the first one to greet them. Maybe someday someone will take me home!

Brigitte and Peter aus Erkrath in Germany are now looking after me. Thank you very much!

GRANADA (female)

I am one of the dogs that sneaked in to the DRCS. After once more all the dogs were counted in compound no. 9, they found me. I was a "blind passenger". There are two dogs in this compound that look very similar to me. That's why I could run around there unseen. When the helpers found out that I didn't have a green tattoo yet, a big discussion started. At first, I couldn't understand why they made such a big fuss out of that green tattoo. Now I know. All females that have such a tattoo don't need to have babies anymore. Nevertheless, the tattoo seems to be an entrance ticket to the shelter. I now have one as well. Nobody could find out how I got there but I now have a card with picture. I am now a regular member of the shelter an am looking for a sponsor who assures that my bowl is always filled.

Catherine from Calgary in Canada is now looking after me. Thank you very much!

Granada found a new home.

TRINITY (female)

I have been living at the shelter for quite a while and since there are many black dogs nobody realized that I had sneaked in. When the helpers had to make a picture of one of the black dogs and all of them were looked at, they realized that I didn't have an admittance card with picture. All helpers were asked whether they knew something about me and where I came from. One of them at least could remember that I had been here for a while. They found out that I had jumped out of the single box after my operation into one of the compounds. Why my admittance card was gone, nobody could tell. Immediately, they made a picture of me and since I have a card now, I am looking for a sponsor. A real owner would of course be nicer because I am a very nice and lovely dog!

After some time at the shelter I got bored and decided to take my life in my own paws again and ran away.

While I was living at the shelter, Darren from Braintree in England was looking after me. Thank you very much.
