SCHOCK DIE (female)

I've been here for about four years but like to escape frequently - I'm extremely good at jumping the wall. However, because I keep on getting mange, I am picked up when I'm on the street and brought back in for treatment. The latest bout of mange is just about to be treated completed and, after that, I'm due for my next escape.

I ran away again, but this time I did not show up anymore. I thought it is a better idea to find a new home by myself.

While I was in the shelter Maria and Daniel from Sweden were looking after me. Thank you very much.

ROXI (female)

I came in with my sister Büsi. We were found abandoned in a box when we were around three weeks old. When we came to the shelter, Lisa (three-legged cat) adopted us, let us feed from her and taught us how to clean and look after ourselves.

Jacqui from Australia is now looking after me. Thank you very much.

SABINA (female)

I have b een at the rescue center since i was a tiny little puppy and thanks to the car of the people in and around the puppy house, I have gotten all the care i needed to get better.

Beside my skin problem I am now a almost healthy young dog and starting to enjoy life. I am happy that someone is now officially looking after me!

Sylvia from Switzerland is now looking after me. Thank you very much!

LEANN (female)

My name is Leann, born in the beginning of 2015 and I have been here at the shelter since I was a very small puppy. Together with almost 10 of my very close playmates I have just recently been moved out of the puppy house and into a much bigger outside compound at the Dog Rescue. We all haven't had an easy time and know nothing more than this shelter. I guess it's a good thing so we don't know what we are missing. Still though, sometimes i wish i had my own family. We are all doing well and hope that someone is willing to support us... :-)

Tina from Germany is now looking after me. Thank you very much!

JELINA (female)

Tasha, Tong, Tabby and I all lived at the same place – a pretty quiet jungle place with only a few houses around and were doing just fine there. We got a lot of food leftovers from the village people in the area and (apart from Tong who just doesn’t like to be near people) we got a lot of human touch as well. Until one day they built some really fancy villas nearby and these people were prepared to pay a lot of money that we 3 dogs would disappear. Thankfully the Dog Rescue saved our lives and gave us a home. We are doing well here and have settled in just fine.

Grit from Mainz in Germany is now looking after me. Thank you very much!

BIRDY (female)

My sisters Tiggi, Toffee, Naomi and I came to the DRCS when we already adult cats and therefore it was more difficult for us to settle in than the cats who get here when they are still kittens and don’t know any better. We were both used to running around in an area with no restrictions and no rules and we both thought it was a funny thing to hunt our own meals. Now we are trying to settle in and get used to always having food around.

Iris from Schürdt in Germany is now looking after me. Thank you very much!

JULIA (female)

I was brought in by a tourist who found me wandering around the market. I had lost my mother and I was really young. Although I could eat on my own, I needed a lot of extra nutrients to nourish me. This I got at the shelter and I'm now much bigger and healthier than in this photo.

Hurra! I've found a home in Koh Samui!

While I was at the shelter, Elke from Germany was looking after me. Thank you very much!

Vielen Dank!

NOODLES (male)

I was living in a house with an old lady and my feline friends Pritti, Mai Tai, Tinker, Loony, Billy and Moon. We kept our owner happy by sitting with her and purring all day long. She loved us very much but she became unwell and had to go and live with her son in a far off land. Our owner wanted to take us with her but her son didn't want that as he has four dogs. So, we were brought to the shelter where we now share our new house with lots and lots of new cat friends.

Good news: I have found a new home on Koh Samui.

While I was living at the shelter, Karin from Heidelberg in Germany was looking after me. Thank you very much.

TINKER (male)

Unfortunately Loony ran away. We miss him very much.

During his time at the shelter, Andrew, Tia and Natasha from New Zealand were looking after him. Thank you very much!

SPOTS (male)

I was living on the market in Nathon but the dogs there kept chasing me. I couldn't get any peace from them. One of the stallholders took pity on me but couldn't take me home as she has three dogs there. She called the shelter and they brought me to Ban Taling Ngam where life is good.

Unfortunately Spots ran away. We miss him very much.

During his time at the shelter, Isa from Heidelberg in Germany was looking after him. Thank you very much!

MUCKY (female)

I was a frequent visitor to one of the temples on the island as the monks there fed all the stray dogs. Brigitte came on one of her regular inspection tours and I was taken away to have an operation to stop me having babies. However, because my mange is so bad, I was kept at the shelter and will remain here until I'm better. I miss my monk friends but I have more dogs to play with here.

Great news: I found a new home on Koh Samui.

While I was living at the shelter, Catherine from Canada was looking after me. Thank you very much.

TINA (female)

I was brought to the shelter in a terrible condition. Immediately, Tina (one of the volunteers) fell in love with me (very understandable) and said she would make me better. So, I've been given special medication for my hair and, unfortunately, have had to suffer the indignity of a bath with special shampoo. Ah well, at least the food's good and Tina comes to visit me a lot. I love Tina. She's given me a special bow for my collar. When all the dogs were counted, it found out that I am actually Sacky.

Hildegard from Walde in Switzerland is now looking after me. Thank you very much.

GROUCHY (female)

All the cats in the cat room were checked and it turned out that everyone had been mixing me and Hooper up, thinking we were the same cats. Brigitte says I should have been called 'Mai roo' (that's Thai for 'I don't know') as that's what everyone said when she asked how they could have mixed me and Hooper up! Anyway, I'm glad I was found as I will now have an operation to stop me having babies as Hooper was starting to look at me in more than a friendly fashion!

Catherine from Canada is now looking after me. Thank you very much.

LAEMMI (male)

When I spotted Brigitte's husband, Werner, he was walking back from the market after having bought some fish. He looked so friendly (and he smelt of fish), I decided he needed a new feline friend. Werner took me home and immediately I made Brigitte fall in love with me (that wasn't hard as I am extremely cute). Now I live in Brigitte's house and I amuse myself by chasing the other cats around. After a while I got to the big shelter and I like it very much!
After a while at the big cathouse, I´ve decided to live my life on my own paws again. During my time at the shelter, Rosalie from Germany was looking after me. Thank you very much!
LAILA (female)

I made the mistake of wandering up to say hello to a nice person in Nathon. Big mistake! That person happened to be a volunteer at the shelter. She decided it was time that I was given the operation to stop me having babies. Nobody in the area would claim me as their cat so I was taken down to the shelter where I now live in peace and harmony with the other cats. It's better here than living on the market as I don't have to steal food from anyone any more.

Good news: I found a home on Samui.

For the time I was in the DRCS, Karin from Heidelberg in Germany was looking after me. Thank you very much.

TANNER (male)

After my castration, my owner refused to pick me up and take me home. He explained to the manager of DRCS that he didn’t want me any more. After that, we couldn’t reach him on the telephone any more. In the beginning, I was very sad and I had to sit in a single box for a long time because they didn’t know where to put me or what was going to happen to me. After a long long time (for me anyway), I was released into one of the compounds. There are a lot of dogs around and it wasn’t that easy in the beginning to fit it. I settled well and I heard that the food in my compound is supposed to be the best. We don’t let any helper with bread or rice pass through our compound without begging for some. That usually works (I can put on a really good 'pathetic' act) and good for the helpers too as they don’t have to carry the bread all the way to the last compound.

After some time at the shelter I got bored and decided to take my life in my own paws again and ran away.

While I was living at the shelter, Stephanie from Germany was looking after me. Thank you very much.

TOM (male)

I was caught close to a very expensive Hotel. The manager gave the order to keep all the straight dogs away. I tried my luck and didnt want to be chased away. Thats why I landed up at the DRCS. They don´t want any dogs at the fancy hotels so I guess I am very lucky to be at the DRCS now as I can only imagine what the Manager would have done to get ´ride of me´. You can get strong effective poison in every supermarket in Thailand and like that you can solve the ´dog problems´ pretty much over night. Of course the Manager wasn´t prepared to adopt me. He just told his gardeners to chase us all away by throwing stones at us.

While I was living at the shelter, Nun from Thailand was looking after me. Thank you very much.

TERESA (female)

I was brought to the DRCS by a Bar owner, together with my Mama and my sister Violet. Because my Mama didn't feed us enough the woman who worked at the bar started to worry. Something wasn't right and she was pregnant again. Violet and myself are now living at Brigitte´s place and Mom got to the big shelter where they will take care of her and operate on her groin. She´s now the proud mother of 2 more babies ( Brigitte says this will be the last time for her to have kittens ). Perhaps we´ll meet Mom and her babies at the big shelter some time. I stayed here with Brigitte and my sister Violet. But I choose the life outside. From time to time I check whats going on at the house :-)

While my time at DRCS, Dorothee and Klaus from Nufringen in Germany were looking after me. Thank you very much!

GINNI (female)

When I was a little kitten I was attacked by a huge dog who ripped a big hole in my belly and my intestines were hanging outside. A nice Thai woman picked me up and brought me to Dr. Joe who operated me. I was very sick but after a few weeks of loving care the stitches were pulled out and I was a lot better. Nobody wanted me, so I was brought to Brigitte´s house. And I love it here. Sometimes I purr very lout so that the humans have to speak up in order to have a conversation. As a kitten, I was attacked by a huge dog who make a huge hole in my tummy and my insides were hanging out (hence my name). Some kind Thai lady picked me up and took me to see Dr Joe who operated on me. I was very sick but after a couple of weeks of tender loving care my stitches were taken out and I was all better again. Nobody wanted me so I came to live with Brigitte in her house and I love it here. Sometimes I purr so loudly, all the humans have to speak loudly to be heard above me.

Clarissa and Michael from Kehl in Germany are now looking after me. Thank you very much!
