VHERNIE (female)

I am still a very young dog and was dropped at the shelter together with my sister. Thanks to my scrubby-beautiful look, the DRCS-people are positive that I will soon be adopted and are devotedly looking for a new home for me in Europe. Of course that would be smashing and with a bit of luck I will soon be owning my own passport….

I was very lucky and found a new home in Europe.

During my time at the shelter, Bianca and Mike from Australia were looking after me. Thank you very much!

SAHM JACK (female)

Brigitte and I have known each other for about five years now. I was looked after by some nice men at a motorbike repair shop and Brigitte made sure I got my jabs every year. however, the motorbike shop closed and new buildings were put up and there was no-one around I knew who would look after me. I ran around Chaweng looking and looking for my friends but couldn't find them so Brigitte picked me up and brought me to the shelter. It's OK here but I'd rather be free in Chaweng and hanging out in the bars flirting outrageously with the tourists. The owner from the motorbike shop couldn't forget me. When he opened a new shop, he took me back to live with him.

For the time I was at the DRCS, Isabelle from Bern in Switzerland was looking after me. Thank you very much!

FOX (male)

I was brought to the shelter as I had lots and lots of mange. Dr Joe treated me and I got much better and began to look like the handsome beast I had once been. I became so handsome that I got an owner and happily went to live with him. However, for some reason or another, my owner's neighbour wasn't happy with me chasing and eating her chickens - these chickens really know how to taunt a dog. She said that if I ate one more chicken there would be no more me! So, I was brought back to the shelter and replaced by a non-chicken eating dog. Poor me. After a while I found it too boring at the shelter and decided to manage my life on my own.

While I was living at the DRCS, Sandra from Zürich in Switzerland was looking after me. Thank you very much!

OSKAR (male)

Not surprisingly, a tourist fell in love with me after I parked myself on her balcony on the first day of her holiday. I learned that trick from my friends - sit on a tourist's balcony and within an hour you get fed. Near the end of my two-week feeding frenzy, I was involved in a car accident (not my fault - the driver had been on the Chang) so my tourist friend brought me to the shelter. Here, I was made better by Dr Joe and I now live with another five dogs in a large kennel.

Jipee: I found a new home on Koh Samui.

While I was living at the shelter, Melissa from Berlin in Germany was looking after me. Thank you very much!

MONIA (female)

Me and my 6 Poodle-Friends (that's how we call ourselves anyway) all got abandoned outside the Dog and Cat Rescue Center. Someone put us inside a cage (even covered the cage to protect us from the rain) and left us there giving the DRCS-people no choice but taking us in. We got vaccinated, deWormed, brushed and taken care for. Two of us already got adopted, one run away (always has been the scared one) and we four are still waiting for a new home. Maybe someone from Europe or elsewhere in the world has interest in adopting one of us...what you think?

Michaela from Börtlingen is now looking after me. Thank you very much!

AEROSMITH (female)

Since I was a little puppy I believed that our family was a little strange. We are 6 brothers and sister and every one of us looks totally different. One is white/brown, one is black, the other has a little beard, another one has quite short hair….a total strange mix! Even our characters are different. I don’t remember where we were born. We were separated from our mother when we were only 8 weeks old, totally mangy and underfed and therefore nobody wanted to adopt us. It looks like we will spend our life here at the shelter- not too bad though but an own family would definitely be a dream!

Patricia from Sölden in Austria is now looking after me. Thank you very much!

RUFUS (male)

This photo doesn't show me in my best light! I was picked up by a tourist who was shocked by my appearance. I was brought to the shelter where I had to be given special food to build me up before I could be treated for the fungus which caused my hair to fall out. I'm getting better but very slowly.

After a while it was too boring for me in the shelter, so I decided to run away.

For the time I was living at the DRCS, Marc and Silvia from Avusy in Switzerland were looking after me. Thank you very much!

CHER (female)

My brother (Sunny) and I were picked up by some tourists on Chaweng Beach. We had been playing on the beach but were getting hungry as we had been separated from our mother. At first we were scared when we got to the compound but we have made friends with Luke and Jack and we have fun playing (except when they try and pull my tail off).

Renee was now looking after me until Buddha smiled on my brother Luke and I.

We were rehomed to a family on the island.

2 month later

LUKE (male)

My brother Jack and I had been separated from our mother and dumped on the road near Big Buddha. Some tourists found us and brought us to the shelter. Here, we found two new playmates (Sunny and Cher) who are the same age as us and they also like to play around. We can be very naughty and like to chew the laundry.

I don't need a sponsor as I found a lovely home on Koh Samui.

FLORA (female)

When I came to the DRCS, I had no power anymore. I was heavily pregnant and very thin. My babies came very soon but because I didn’t have enough milk for them, they died one after another. Werner feeded them also with milk from the bottle, but unfortunately it didn’t work. I still was very thin and weak and then I got sick, too. Of course I was very sad because all my babies died but here in the house there were also other babies and so I took care for them. The other cat mommy was very young and she was glad that I helped her.

Ariane and Martin from Switzerland are now looking after her. Thank you very much!

SWEETY SONG (female)

I’m a lovely affectionate cat with a beautiful soft fur. My master was constantly worried about me whenever I went for one of my independent walks. Dogs kept chasing me and often I could only just escape from them. This had to have an end and so I was brought to the DRCS and after I was sterilized I was allowed to stay at Brigitte and Werner’s house. I liked it here straight away and snuggled up in their bed for days. In the beginning I was very scared of the dogs in the house but I´ve been trying to avoid them and so they leave me alone. I get along very well with most of the other cats in the house.

After some time at the shelter I got bored and decided to take my life in my own paws again and ran away.

While I was living at the shelter, Simone from Fulda in Germany was looking after me. Thank you very much.

DJ (female)

Me and my sister CJ were taken to DRCS after having lived at a construction site. We together took care of our five puppies. When they had finished the construction of the businesses, there was no more room for us. We constantly got chased away and our babies were not liked. We all were thin and sneezed and coughed. The babies were not well at all. Tourists noticed us and called DRCS. We were taken to the sanctuary at Bahn Taling Ngam and the doctor stated that we all had distemper. Our babies died shortly after that, and we were very sick for a long time. But miraculously, both of us survived the viral infection which most of the time ends deadly. The volunteers Linda, Kelly and Glenn cared for us very well. They comforted us with treats when our babies passed away and gave us more colorful pills. We are now in kennel no. 10 and are always together. Kennel no. 10 is on the left side when you enter the sanctuary. It is the nicest kennel and most of the visitors look inside.
That means petting and treats! Come and visit us!

CHARLES (male)

I was delivered to Brigitte and Werner when I was a little baby cat because I was running through a bungalow-area screaming for my mother very loud. I was screaming and screaming but my mum didn’t come. After I alerted the whole hotel, some people gave me a lot of strange food. But I just wanted my mommy and warm milk. So I started screaming again… At the house of Brigitte there were both: warm milk and a mother. That it wasn’t my real mother didn’t bother me because I could decide between two mothers and there were a lot of other cats at the same age who I could play with. Meanwhile I got a big and beautiful tomcat. I would love to see you at the big shelter in Baan Taling Ngam!

Efra from Krefeld in Germany is now looking after me. Thank you very much!

ALLY (male)

My master brought me to the DRCS because he had to work all day and I was always alone. He didn't have a fence around the house so I went out walking around all day long. As you can see on the picture I'm a real Retriever and even in Koh Samui they are worth quite a bit. O.K. I might be a bit small but definitely a little beauty and very affectionate. I retrieve balls (or whatever I can find) all day long and everyone really likes me here. I think I've got a good chance to find a new owner. So far Brigitte didn't want to give me away as she wants to be sure that I would get a good home. Of course whoever takes me, needs to really like me and not only take me for show. My future house needs to have a garden and surrounded by a fence. There are more and more houses like that on Samui but so far I haven't found the right one. But I do feel very comfortable here and everyone is enjoying my company.

After about six months we were lucky enough to find a nice home for Ally on the mainland close to Surat Thani.

Tanja and Dominik from Böblingen in Germany are now looking after me. Thank you very much!
