EIVO (male)

I was one of the dogs who never found a place on the street. I was always scared of the other dogs and scared of all humans, too. That was the main reason why I never found any food for myself. Thankfully some animal friends helped me on my fee

Kim from Canada is now looking after me. Thank you very much!

NOENG (female)

Hello, my name is NOENG. I have two brothers, DAU and NAAG, and two sisters, DUAN and DTONG. At the age of only 6 weeks, we were dumped at a temple without our mother. As we were so young, there was little chance of survival as the older dogs don't care about young puppies and fight us for even the smallest grain of rice. Fortunately for us, we had been taken to the only temple on the island which is looked after by the DRCS: every day one of the DRCS helpers comes by and brings dry food for about 20 to 30 dogs. But it is still a very tough place for puppies and only the strongest survive. When two of us were bitten by big dogs, we were taken to the DRCS, which at that time was overcrowded. After about two weeks in the DRCS, we all got the Parvo Virus: we could not eat and had bloody diarrhoea. Dr Somsak gave infusions for several days and so we survived this normally lethal virus. Now we stand together and are very happy to be here (we have been moved to the big shelter).

Life is better now. I found a home on the island.

While I was in the shelter Romana from Austria took care of me! Thank you very much!

PIRAT (female)

After a very terrible accident, my left eye had to be removed and I was receiving months of treatment at the Dog Rescue until I could stand on my own paws again. Once I felt better, they couldn't and wouldn't just put me back to where they found me. I have settled in well here at the cat house in Baan Taling Ngam and I'm happy that they allowed me to stay here.

Sabine from Germany is now looking after me. Thank you very much!

BLUE (female)

My story is very simple: My owner brought me to the DRCS and never came back to pick me up. Thankfully Inge and her lovely family came to visit and I made them fall in love with me. Thank you for taking care of me and for bringing me all the nice food!

Inge and her family from Dubai are now looking after me. Thank you very much!

HECKY (female)

I don’t think anybody knows where we really come from. Several times/year the DRCS-people take new pictures of every single dog and catn and then send a new picture to the sponsors of the animals. When they last checked through the cat house, it turned out that there were 15!!! new cats that nobody really knew where they came from. I’m one of them! Most of us came injured or were picked up from the street after an accident or attack. Once we were healthy, nobody claimed us and so we got vaccinated and got to stay at the big cat house here in Baan Taling Ngam. Now it’s time to be registered and we finally have the chance of our own sponsor……..

After some time at the shelter I got bored and decided to take my life in my own paws again and ran away.

While I was living at the shelter, Karin from Luxemburg was looking after me. Thank you very much.

LIMONA (female)

Lena, Archi and I came all on the same day to the shelter. We were of course unvaccinated and quite week. Thankfully we recovered fast and enjoyed the huge amount of delious food we received every day. Today we are over the hill and live in the house of Brigitte and Werner. Our hightlight of the day is the nightly fishparty...so much fun!!

Tolle Nachrichten: Ich habe ein neues zu Hause auf Koh Samui gefunden.

Während meiner Zeit im Tierheim hat Daniela from Malters in Switzerland für mich gesorgt. Vielen Dank!

LESLIE (female)

I grew up in the puppy house and have just recently been moved to a bigger compound with a lot of space to run around. At first I was really scared when Jay and Linda put me in here with all these other-stronger and bigger dogs. But only after one day all was better and together with the other youngster who were moved, I’m enjoying the huge space.

Daniela from Malters in Switzerland is now looking after me. Thank you very much!

SHAKIRA (female)

We came to the DRCS when we were 6 little puppies, mangy and sick with all kind of things. We were brought into the puppy house where we settled in fast and ate our pills every morning and evening. Unfortunately nobody ever wanted to adopt us because we didn’t have a nice fur and needed special care. Now we are too big for the puppy house and were moved into the teenager compound. Thankfully it is right next to the puppy house and close to the main entrance so we still get to see all the action.

Thomas from Switzerland is now looking after me. Thank you very much!

Jumbo
JUMBO (male)

I’m called JUMBO because I’m one of the big ones here. Whilst living on the streets of Chaweng beach I was always trying to ”bite” my way through my life. I’m about 2-3 years old and my coat is nearly all gone. Begging started to become very difficult because I haven’t had my own area and all the other dogs just wanted to get rid of me. Even the human beings didn’t like me no more because of my looks. I finally arrived here at the DRCS because I had a fight at the Chaweng beach and my back was really badly injured. If a dog has an injury at the back it can easily become fatal if it doesn’t get a treatment straight away. When the new dog shelter is built the people from the DRSC want to take me with them because I haven’t found a place on the street. Meanwhile I do look much better than on the picture and even my coat grows back again. When I first got here I started a fight with another injured male and so the people from the DRCS decided to castrate both of us on the same day. I would really love to stay here... the daily cooked meals and the good treatment, what else can a dog wish for? Now, I spend most of the day doing what dogs love the most: snoozing in the shade. Hurray, I have found a godparent!

Gerla Ziegert from Umkirch in Germany has adopted me in April 2002. Thank you, Gerla!

Even better than having a godparent is having your own parent - I've been found a home on the island and am now living in the lap of luxury with my own soft bed and two doting owners who don't mind me squashing them when I sit on their laps.

Pan
PAN (male)

I am an old fighter and have many a scar. I am skinny and there is not much fur left. This time my head got hurt so bad that it almost killed me. But now I am in the DRCS, cause of course everybody takes notice of a dog with such a huge injury. Many animal friends called the DRCS and I allowed them to catch me. I have decided to stay here. The door was left ajar several times and I left, but then I decided to return. Now I have to recover first of all and the others leave me alone. But I do not provoke them either – so far, I am still far too weak to do so. On the picture below you can see that I look much better now. After a while it was too boring for me in the shelter, so I decided to run away.

While I was in Ban Taling Ngam Vanessa from Switzerland took care of me. Thank you very much!

MOZART (male)

I was caught by the helper at the Laem Din Market - I was very stupid and got into a fight with another dog and got my ear ripped off.. I should have stayed with Brigitte at the shelter for daily treatment to my ear but I didn't really like it there and told the world so every morning at four o'clock. I should get an award for my howling. After my morning howl, I was always given some nice soft food and then I felt very sleepy. One day, I managed to outwit one of the helpers and escaped through the gate when he was not looking. I went back to the Market but a helper comes down every day from the shelter to clean my sore bits.

I don't need a sponsor as I like my freedom and living at the market.

FOXI (male)

I was born at the shelter, together wish my 3 brothers and sisters. Why our Mama was here, she never told us. Mama and Mietzi are now in their new home in Germany, Martina has adopted them. Thanks to our lovely nature and good behaviour, my brother White Nose and I are allowed to stay here in Brigittes house and since we've already been castrated, there is no danger for us that we will ever have to move to the big shelter. At night we always fight for the best place in the bed.

Marianne and Florian from Garching in Germany are now looking after me. Thank you very much!

RONCO (male)
