ALIDA (female)

I was brought to the DRCS because of my bad mange problems. Thankfully the treatment was very successful and so my fur grew back in with no time. The only problem was that the DRCS-people didn’t understand that I had no intention to go back home. I made it very clear that I wanted to stay at the shelter where I found new friends, enjoy the great food and the people, too. Thankfully the got the message and let me stay. I know that most other dogs here can’t wait to get out of the shelter but not me! I love it here and can’t imagine going back onto the streets.

Diana from Aachen is now looking after me. Thank you very much!

MAGGY (female)

I grew up in the puppy house of the DRCS and had to watch all my brothers and sisters being adopted straight away or they got really sick due to a deadly virus they cought at the shelter. We were dropped at the rescue without being vaccinated first so the chances of getting sick are huge. I had to fight for my life as well, took heavy mediation for months. Thankfully now I'm feeling much better and I've turned into a happy young dog.

Uschi and Günter from Germany are now looking after me. Thank you very much!

I was very lucky and found a new home on Koh Samui. During my time at the shelter were Uschi & Günter looking after me. Thank you very much!

Jabari (male)

I have been at the shelter for several months now, together with my lovely sisters Maggie and Anka. We live in the house of Brigitte and Werner and enjoying a pretty cool life. To be honest, I hope nobody will ever adopt us, we love it here and call it home...

Michaela and Alex from Germany are now looking after me. Thank you very much!

MILKA (female)

I don’t think anybody knows where we really come from. Several times/year the DRCS-people take new pictures of every single dog and catn and then send a new picture to the sponsors of the animals. When they last checked through the cat house, it turned out that there were 15!!! new cats that nobody really knew where they came from. I’m one of them! Most of us came injured or were picked up from the street after an accident or attack. Once we were healthy, nobody claimed us and so we got vaccinated and got to stay at the big cat house here in Baan Taling Ngam. Now it’s time to be registered and we finally have the chance of our own sponsor……..

Andy & Elena life in Koh Samui and are now looking after me. Thank you very much!

HONKY (male)

Here at the house of Brigitte and Werner is always something going on. Of course the nightly fish-party is the highlight of every cat living here. If I'm not too busy sleeping -in the bed of Brigitte and Werner of course- I like standing at the kitchen window and watch the dogs out in the yard, that can be pretty amusing. I especially love how they look at me...of course they got toatlly different thought...

WATERLOO (male)

My sister Roxette and I grew up at the temple in Plai Laem. We were two happy little puppies and had great fun with all the tourists, the monks and the other dogs. At least once/week the temple Team from the DRCS Jay and Linda came to visit and gave us strange tablets and sometimes even an injection. Of course we hated that but knew why we had to go through all that. We were basically furless, naked! Unfortunately the medicine didn’t work and things got pretty bad. When our skin started to open, we had to be brought to the shelter since nobody could really give us daily medication. It’s pretty ok here and we see Jay and Linda a lot here, too. The mange is still a big issue and nobody knows, why we are not getting better. At least the medicine we get now helps with the itching.

Daniel from Germany is now looking after me. Thank you very much!

GORNE (female)

I was dropped outside the gate of the shelter, nicely put inside a carton box with a few holes on the top. Once inside the shelter they vaccinated and deWormed me immediatley and then brought to a lovely foster family who took care of me for almost one month until I was fully vaccinated and strong enough for the shelter. I still live in the Puppy House and hope that I will soon find a home, before they move me into one of the ouside compounds.

SCARLET (female)

I was living in a house with an old lady and my feline friends Nihat Song, Panja and Biggi. We kept our owner happy by sitting with her and purring all day long. She loved us very much but she became unwell and had to go and live with her son in a far off land. Our owner wanted to take us with her but her son didn't want that as he has four dogs. So, we were brought to the shelter where we now share our new house with lots and lots of new cat friends.

After some time at the shelter I got bored and decided to take my life in my own paws again and ran away.

While I was living at the shelter, Michaela from Germany was looking after me. Thank you very much.

MOLTA (female)

My sister Nelly and I are two pretty ordinary looking Thai dogs and not at all special looking. Even so, we are holding on to the wishing-hope of finding our own home one day with our own family. So far we only had to watch other and probably prettier puppies getting adopted while we were busy with our never-ending mange problem. We’ve always been mangy, even when we were still very little. However, we will never give up hope of finding our own home one day….

Sabine and Patrick from Weinstadt in Germany are now looking after me. Thank you very much!

CLAIRE (male)

Real beauty comes from the inside! That's what I believe and whenever people laugh at me and my funny underbite, I just proudly lift my head and walk away. I am happy to have such a safe place like the DRCS to live in and absolutely love it here.

Sandra from Munich in Germany is now looking after me. Thank you very much!

KABORA (female)

My sister Kabora and I had to hold out for quite some time until we were finally rescued. Someone informed the shelter that we were abandoned in a small empty hut in the jungle. For years we used to live on the streets of Samui where there are enough waste bins everywhere and therefore enough food. But what to do out there in the jungle? After days of sitting around hungry, the DRCS-Volunteers found us and brought us to the shelter. We both quite like it here and enjoy the delicious food….

Bianca and Mike from Australia are now looking after me. Thank you very much!

SCARFACE (female)

I had been abandoned at the fish market near Big Buddha when I was just some four weeks old. I was too young to be separated from my mother but her owners didn’t care about that. When I arrived at the shelter , I looked just like the other newly arrived kitten so we lived together in the same basket, drank the same milk and ate the same food. I still live here at the big cat house and I am very happy.

Gilbert and Henry are now looking after me. Thank you very much!

PENNY  (female)

Please don’t get fooled by that picture, normally I’m a very attractive and happy looking cat. The picture was taken right after I was brought to the shelter and understandably I was still a little confused. I was hit by a car and could hardly believe that after such a crash, I was still able to open my eyes. I am now getting better with every day and have settled well here at the DRCS.

Great news: I have found a new home on Koh Samui.

While I was living at the DRCS, Eva from Germany Germany was looking after me. Thank you very much!

SHIVA (female)

I was dumped at a temple in Bophut when Olivia found me - she used to go there every day to feed the stray animals. I was too young to survive on my own so she took me home with her. We went everywhere together with me in a bag on her back. I love going out in the motorbike. After a couple of years, Olivia had to go back to Switzerland but she has taken me with her. I am now a Swiss doggie. Good news for me: Olivia took me to Switzerland.

Brigitte and Ben from Nidau in Switzerland looked after me while I was in the shelter. Thank you very much!

PINA (female)

I was brought in because I had a small bit of mange on my back. Usually, dogs in my condition are treated and discharged but my owner was adamant he didn't want me back as I would pass on the disease to him and his children. What nonsense! So, I now live at the shelter, my mange is much better and I'm hoping someone will come and adopt me. A house with a garden would be nice.

Michaela from Göppingen in Germany is now looking after me. Thank you very much!

MALIE (female)

Nobody knows where I came from - I was running around lost in Lamai, in front of all the cars, and some tourists were frightened I would get run over. Now I'm at the shelter and it's OK as there are no cars but plenty food.

Janne from Äkrehamn in Norway is now looking after me. Thank you very much!

TOMATO (female)

Nobody knows where I came from. None of the staff remembers collecting me from anywhere and no-one remembers anyone bringing me to the shelter. However, here I am and it's almost perfect. I live in the cat hotel here so I can stay inside or go outside to play. The only cloud on the horizon is that I will have to get an operation to stop me having babies.

Unfortunately Tomato ran away. We miss her very much.

During her time at the shelter, Catherina from Calgary in Canada was looking after her. Thank you very much!

Halllo, ich bin der größte und längste Thaidackel auf Samui
PEPSI (male)

I was strolling around close to the shooting-range when two nice Italians saw me and figured that I was in need of some medical care. I was picked up by two helpers of the DRCS. Meanwhile, I have recovered and my fur has grown very well. It is great to be served fresh food every day, not having to fall asleep hungry in the evenings. Unfortunately, that had happened very often. When I wanted to beg for some food at the shooting-range I was chased away sometimes brutally. Since I was not welcome there at all, I was allowed to stay at the DRCS. Here, I have taken over a leading role and the other dogs show respect even though my legs are a little bit too short. Brigitte has announced to bring me to Ban Taling Ngam if I go on making trouble. What does she mean by trouble? I am only trying to be number one!

Great news: I have found a new home on Koh Samui.

While I was living at the DRCS, Alex and Klaus from Maintal in Germany were looking after me. Thank you very much!

WEEKLY (male)

I was abandoned with my two sisters MIA and KIM at the temple in Bophut at the age of about eight weeks. Olivia from the DRCS used to feed the strays there every afternoon. When she saw us, she took us to DRCS immediately, because puppies that young without a mother have hardly any chance to survive. The big dogs at the temple do not really appreciate puppies. Every dogs fends for himself. That was some time ago and I really like it here. After a while it was too boring in the shelter so I decided to run away.

Alice from Vienna in Austria took care of me while I was in the shelter. Thank you very much!

BOBO (male)

My friend Susi and I were having a lovely time terrorising all the dogs in Lamai! As soon as one of them appeared on our patch, we used to go running after them, barking furiously and making them run away. Susi and I were highly amused by this behaviour but some people at the local hotel complained bitterly about us. As the hotel didn't want us to come to any harm (and to stop frightening its guests), the manager there asked Brigitte to take us into the shelter which she did.

Sarah from Switzerland will take care of me. Thank you very much.

DUM (female)

I was hanging out at one of the temples on Samui but the head monk decided my mange was too bad so he called for Brigitte and her mange munching machine. I've to live here at the shelter until the mange is better but, after that, Brigitte is not confident that I can look after myself or go back to the shelter. As usual I ran away again, as I did so often before. But when I need medical help again, I will be the first one to ring the bell of the DRCS.

Susanne from Krohnbühl in Switzerland will take care of me. Thank you very much!

MARLA (female)

Since I was a little puppy I believed that our family was a little strange. We are 6 brothers and sisters and every one of us looks totally different. One is white/brown, one is black, the other has a little beard, another one has quite short hair….a total strange mix! Even our characters are different. I don’t remember where we were born. We were separated from our mother when we were only 8 weeks old, totally mangy and underfed and therefore nobody wanted to adopt us. It looks like we will spend our life here at the shelter- not too bad though but an own family would definitely be a dream!
