BLINDI (female)

I was dumped as a small puppy under a car when my owners realised I had no eyes. I was brought to the clinic and was so small, I could only climb stairs. So, when nobody could find me, all they had to do was look for me on the second floor. I am the only dog at the shelter who has stayed for ever with Brigitte and I have a special status here so am allowed to sleep in the bedroom with Brigitte, Werner and a select group of cats. I protect Brigitte and Werner from anything. I am always on alert in case I am needed. I like to chase flies in the garden but am not very successful at catching them. I'm not too keen on the pedicures I am given here.

Ellen from Germany is looking after me. Thank you very much.

NIT NOI (female)

Some funny Canadians have taken me out of the puppy house (where I was hoping to get adopted any day) and promised me that they would take me to their country. I was then put into the so called flyer compound thinking I would be with my new family at the other end of the world soon. That never happened! They changed their mind and now I have missed any chance of being adopted. At least I’m out of the flyer compound now but I’m pretty sure that I have grown to much now and nobody will want to give me a new home…

Lisa and John from Australia are now looking after me. Thank you very much!

ROSALIE (female)

Laola, Fuchsi and I all have the same story: We came in when we needed medical attention and it was made clear to the Dog Rescue that we shell not return to where we came from. After successful treatment, we were sterilised and then let free outside the office in Chaweng. All three of us didn't feel like going to the market and looking for food, plus the other dogs here are quite funny and so we wanted to stay and forced ourselves back in. Now we need someone who wants to support us....

Rosemary from South Yarra is now looking after me. Thank you very much!

CASH (male)

I originall landed up at the Dog Rescue for mange treatment. I`m old and my fur was missing all over my body. I never really had an owner who cared for me but i had my place where i was living for many years and felt safe and happy there. When my treatment was finished my old owner refused to take me back and said that i was no longer welcome to hang around there. The Rescue Center had no other choice but keeping me. Since i dont like to be locked up, they are letting me stay free outside the gate in Chaweng. That works fine for me and i have everything i need.

Sue and Luke from the United Kingdom are now looking after me. Thank you very much!

TIGGI (female)

My sisters Toffee, Naomi, Waikiki and I came to the DRCS when we already adult cats and therefore it was more difficult for us to settle in than the cats who get here when they are still kittens and don’t know any better. We were both used to running around in an area with no restrictions and no rules and we both thought it was a funny thing to hunt our own meals. Now we are trying to settle in and get used to always having food around.

Nice News: I found a new home on Koh Samui.

During my time at the shelter, Janine an Mario from Switzerland were looking after me. Thank you very much!

SWEETIE (female)

THANK YOU FELICITY AND PHIL for visiting me at Brigittes house in Chaweng. Thank you for your love and for taking care of me! I feel very happy here and hope i'm allowed to stay in the house for a long time to come.

Felicity and Phil from Australia are now looking after me. Thank you very much!

I was very lucky and found a new home on Koh Samui. During my time at the shelter    Felicity & Phil were looking after me. Thank you very much!

VERONA (female)

I had a huge hole on the top of my tail when I came to the shelter. It was full of maggots and i had a pretty nasty infection on top of it. For days I was only lying around and hoping for the day to end. Finally this is over and the wound is closed. I am healthy and happy now and love to play with the other youngsters here at the shelter.

Priyanka from Sydney in Australia is now looking after me. Thank you very much!

ENOLA (female)

I used to live at a wonderful Tourist-Waterfall spot until some animal friends brought me to the Rescue Center in order to receive mange treatment. I guests they didn't realize, that this treatment could have been done at my place as well. However, I've been treated for mange for several months now and also got sterilised. I have now lost my place at the Waterfall and would get attacked straight away by the new pack of dogs. That is why I will stay here and make the best of it.

Pierre from Germany is now looking after me. Thank you very much!

After some time at the shelter I got bored and decided to take my life in my own paws again and ran away. While I was living at the shelter, Janine and Mario from Switzerland were looking after me. Thank you very much.

DUFFY (male)

Together with a few other dogs I live at the DRCS in Chaweng but unlike most other dogs, I live outside the main gates. There is always food and water here as well as some protected places to sleep under. I love my freedom and love the thought of being able to walk to the market if I chose so. All the people in the area are used to a lot of dogs and therfore there is no danger for us around here.

Tanja from Hannover in Germany is now looking after me. Thank you very much!

PRINZ (male)

My life has never been easy and I never get something for free. Times were hard and so I am more than proud today to be where I am. I have always believed that one day I will be without pain and without sorrows. Even when I had to sit in a cage at the DRCS for weeks and everyday they gave me injections- I never stopped believing in the day X, when I would live a happy life. Today the sun shines for me and I'm doing great here at the shelter.

Vicky from Germany is now looking after me. Thank you very much!

DAISI (female)

I was hanging around the Weekender Resort and Silvana used to look after me when she stayed there. Silvana left money at the Resort for me to be looked after after she went home. However, nobody could catch me. When Silvana returned six months later, I had gone crazy and was running up and down the street and no-one could catch me. Eventually Silvana caught me and brought me to the shelter. I stayed there for around a year in Brigitte's house but I didn't like the other dogs much so Silvana took me home to Switzerland and I am now a happy doggie.

Silvana from Switzerland took me back with her to Switzerland so I am now a European doggie.

LAOLA (weiblich)

Vielen Dank!

SCRAPPY (female)

Since I was a little puppy I believed that our family was a little strange. We are 6 brothers and sister and every one of us looks totally different. One is white/brown, one is black, the other has a little beard, another one has quite short hair….a total strange mix! Even our characters are different. I don’t remember where we were born. We were separated from our mother when we were only 8 weeks old, totally mangy and underfed and therefore nobody wanted to adopt us. It looks like we will spend our life here at the shelter- not too bad though but an own family would definitely be a dream!

Nathan Hales from Australia is now looking after me. Thank you very much!

FLOCKE (female)

The shelter was quite a change for me and my half-brother Merkur. We were born in the deep jungle where we hardly saw anybody, no cars and only few other dogs. One day this foreigner lady came jogging by and just through some food in front of us. To our surprise, she did the exact same thing the day after and the day after that. That’s how it went on for quite some time and we got pretty used to her, actually already awaited her. She then arranged for us to be vaccinated and eventually taken into the shelter. I believe she couldn’t look at our skeleton bodies any longer…

Alexandra from Germany is now looking after me. Thank you very much!

SAMMY (female)

I used to live on Chaweng beach where Tanja and Hajo spent their vacation. I suffered a bad mange and on top of that I was pregnant. Tanja and Hajo took care of me and fed me. Unfortunately, they had to return home one day and called Brigitte who brought me to the shelter. There, I gave birth to 9 puppies. They all died since they were too many and my milk was not of best quality because of my sickness. I was sterilised so that this would never happen again. Meanwhile, I have recovered almost completely and have settled in well at the shelter. There is always plenty of food and water and many pals to play with.

Tanja and Hajo from Oestrich-Winkel in Germany are now looking after me. Thank you very much!

SOFIE (female)

I was brought to the shelter by somebody unknown and for a while nobody realized that I was there. Every new dog gets a card with medical instructions. But since I wasn´t sick I didn´t need any medicine. Good, that you don´t need a card to get to the food bowls! I was finally spotted when Brigitte did one of her inspections. She said that she is OK with me staying here forever - I was too young to live alone outside. My picture was taken and I was given a number and an admittance card. Moreover, I was vaccinated and sterilized. I have lived in the shelter for many years now and it has become my home!

Monika from Zurich in Switzerland is now looking after me. Thank you very much!

SÖCKCHEN (female)

At the time when I was brought to the DRCS, I was well advanced in pregnancy. I was brought there by Regina from Ahrensburg. She knew that dogs are poisoned at the hotel/bungalows where she found me. Pregnant dogs have little chance of survival at resort hotels on Koh Samui. Most of the time the animals are taken to a temple and have a very uncertain future. I went directly to the new animal shelter in Ban Taling Ngam. They had just finished the second enclosure for stray dogs. After three weeks my babies were born and we were very well cared for. Some volunteers built a wonderful large wooden box for me and my litter and it with towels. With all that good pampering, all of my children survived and they are very well and Brigitte found them real homes. My puppies are checked regularly by the DRCS.

Regina from Ahrensburg in Germany will take care of me. Thank you very much.

POPPIE (male)

I was brought in because I had been involved with some other male dogs. I had done my best to fight back with these dogs but I'm on the elderly side of life and I have no front teeth left. At the shelter, not only was the wound on my back fixed up, but the really bad ear infection was also sorted - that makes such a difference as I don't feel there are lots of ants running around in my head any more. Brigitte says that I am such an old crumble that I can stay with her for as long as I want. I want that very much. I like it here, in particular, when we get visitors as I get to jump up on them and put dirty paw prints all over their clothes.

Kirsche and Nick from Worthing in England are now taking care of me. Thank you very much!

SPOTTIE (male)

I was living with my friends on the beach at Big Buddha. We were OK and being looked after by the monks at the temple there and some local tourists. However, one day one of the local people accused us dogs of killing his cat and, in an act of rage, he put poison down. Out of eight of us dogs, only Rolli and I survived. We survived because we had just been fed by the monks and weren't interested in the food which turned out to be poisoned. Why did this man want to poison me? I didn't eat the man's cat. When Brigitte heard about the mass poisoning, she turned up in her chariot (OK, it was only a pick-up truck!) and took us away. I now live at the shelter and await a new owner.

Nataly and Thomas from Königstein in Germany are now looking after me. Thank you very much.

JAGGER (male)

I was running around a market in Nathon creating lots and lots of trouble. I’d get all the other dogs into a froth and we would run round and round the market, knocking people and baskets of fruit over. Eventually it became too much for No 1 Stallholder (she’s such a troublemaker) and she telephoned Brigitte at the rescue centre. The next day, Sakda and Don appeared with full dog-catching regalia and I gave them some run for their money! What a lark! Then they caught me. Bo hooo! I now live at the dog rescue and now have another set of dogs to get into a froth and we have lots of fun.

Sonja from Bad Friedrichshall in Germany is now looking after me. Thank you very much.

MAYLIN (female)

I was brought by Sabine and Marcus to the DRCS since they found me on the street with bad mange. Moreover, I had a lot of old bite wounds which is a sign that my life had been quite hard. I stayed at Brigitte's and Werner's house where the mange was treated. Meanwhile, I look really good. I settled in well at the house and I am allowed to stay here because I get along with all the others so well. I like it a lot here since there are many visitors who cuddle me. I love that!

Sabine and Marcus from Germany are now looking after me. Thank you very much!
