SASSY (female)

When I was just a few days old, I was brought to the DRCS together with my 6 brothers and sister. The owners of my mother were not very nice people, they kept her in the smallest cage as soon as they found out that she was pregnant. It didn’t take long until my Mam got really sick and without immediate care, she would have died. Thankfully the owners eventually decided to bring her to the Rescue Center where she could have a peaceful birth. All went well and she was spayed shortly after. Me and my brothers and sisters will stay here at the Center and hope that one day someone will adopt us.

I was very lucky and found a new home on Koh Samui.

During my time at the shelter, Nara from Germany was looking after me. Thank you very much!

CAMELIA (female)

My name is Camelia, born in the beginning of 2015 and I have been here at the shelter since I was a very small puppy. Together with almost 10 of my very close playmates I have just recently been moved out of the puppy house and into a much bigger outside compound at the Dog Rescue. We all haven't had an easy time and know nothing more than this shelter. I guess it's a good thing so we don't know what we are missing. Still though, sometimes i wish i had my own family. We are all doing well and hope that someone is willing to support us... :-)

Patricia from Germany is now looking after me. Thank you very much!

HOPE SONG (female)

I was hoping for a new home in Australia but unfortunately that never happened. I think it is because of the quarantine time in Australia that Jovi could not adopt me. It doesn’t really matter now, I was saved and I am now a happy and healthy dog and live in Chaweng where i can freely go in and outside the shelter which is pretty cool. Thank you Jovi!

Jovi from Australia is now looking after me. Thankyou very much!

WALLIS (male)

Mirko, Moon and myself all got to the shelter when we were very little. As tiny woundable puppies we were dropped at the shelter and then went to foster people (which was super fun) until we were fully vaccinated. Unfortunately nobody has been interested in adopting us and so now was the time for us to move out of the puppy house and move into one of the big outside compounds at the shelter. What we all feared turned out to really cool and we just love the big space to run and play around. All is good and we have settled here.

Sidsel from Denmark is now looking after me. Thank you very much!

ALASKA (female)

We are a group of 8 puppies who were found by a lovely young group of Yoga-People from the USA. They found us during the last monsoon when we were trapped by the water and in huge life danger. Together with Linda and Jay from the Dog Rescue, they made a plan to get us healthy again and find us a place at the shelter where we could stay. The Americans looked after us until we were fully vaccinated and strong enough to move to the shelter. Apart from some mange, we are all doing well and have just moved into a big outside compound at the shelter of the Dog Rescue. We are happy and thankful to the group from the USA who saved our lives, THANK YOU!

Tanja from Schupbach in Germany is now looking after me. Thank you very much!

CANDI (female)

I have been at the shelter since I was very little and have been a real fighter since I can imagine. Fighter in the sense that I was never really healthy and one disease came after the other. Beside the mange – which I will get over too – I’m doing real well. I’m also not a huge fan of humans in general and don’t let everyone touch me. I do believe however, that I have changed my attitude towards life and have been a lot healthier and happier since. Due to my ‘quite special’ character, I’m allowed to live at the puppy house and can go into the open kitchen area whenever I like, so that’s pretty cool.

Shaz and her family from the UK are now looking after me. Thank you very much!

ARIA (female)

Anna and Alex from Germany, thank you very much for visiting me and falling in love with me.

I am very happy that you decided to take care of me...and I really like the name you gave me. Hope to see you again some day.....

NOEMI (female)

Jumbo, Sauna and myself are three lovely dogs who were all abandoned outside the shelter when we were about three months old. We were vaccinated straight away and were lucky enough not to get sick at the shelter until we had built a strong immune system to fight all the viruses at the shelter. We had a good few months growing up in the puppy house and have now been moved to a bigger compound where we can run and play around properly. It`s unfortunate that nobody wanted to give us a home when we were still little but we are fine here and don't really know anything else anyway. Therefore all is good and we are happy to be healthy and alive.

Sally from Surrey in the UK is now looking after me. Thank you very  much!

ALAISA (female)

My name is Alaisa and I'm one of the so called 'Garden Centre-dogs'. It's very unfortunate and sad that I have to get used to a totally new environment - and this at my age! We (almost 10 of us) used to live at a very big garden centre here on Samui and had a great and loving home. One dark day our owner found herself in some pretty serious trouble because of us and she had to immediately find a solution. Of course she couldn't find a home for any of us and so there was no other place for us to go but the Dog Rescue Centre. We are all trying our best to settle in and make our peace with the whole situation...

Nicole from Switzerland is now looking after me. Thank you very much!

VIRGINIA (female)

I was brought to the shelter because of huge tumour of my genitals which was bleeding constantly. The chemotherapy wasn’t painful at all and after 3 injections in the space of 10 days I was fine again. After that I was sterilized. Unfortunately my old owner didn’t want me back as I had been away for so long. He had got himself a new (male) dog in the meantime. He said he never wants a female dog again. What's his problem? Anyway, he never was my proper owner (so he said); he just sometimes fed me!

Petra from Germany is now looking after me. Thank you very much!

SYLVIE (female)

Unfortunately I have never experianced yet how it feels to be a healthy dog. Since I was a little puppy I have been sturggeling with health problems and every day the DRCS-people have to give me some pills to make me feel better. So far it has worked and I am still going strong. Beside my skin problems i`m actually doing quite well and hope that I will one day be a really happy and healthy young dog.

Aimie and Tracey from the UK are now looking after me. Thank you very much!

DINA (female)

I am so happy that Ida has chosen me and is now making sure that i can stay here at the Dog Rescue. I`m a funny young dog and live at the small shelter in Chaweng. I am even allowed to go in and out the way i please. I never really go far but like to play with the other dogs outside the gate.

Ida from Sweden is now looking after me. Thank you very much!

MARCO (male)

HILDE (female)

I was just abandoned outside the Chaweng-Dog Rescue Shelter when I was only about 6 months old and was suffering from pretty bad blood parasites. Thankfully today I am a young and happy young doggie and have just been sterilised too. Thank you Anna for coming to visit me and for supporting me!

Anna from Germany is now looking after me. Thank you very much!

ALBERT (male)

Christine from the UK is now looking after me. Thank you very much!

I am very happy that we met!

LORI (male)

Christine and Christian from Germany are now looking after me. Thank you very much!

I`m very happy to have a sponsor, thank you very much!!

TINKERBELL (female)

Schnappi and I have very much the same fate.We were abandoned on the street by our old owner and since we are no strong Thai-Dogs, we would have had no chance of survival. The other big stray dogs would have eaten us alive....  Thankfully we were rescued and are now sharing the same HAPPY END: We live at the DRCS at Brigitte and Werners place and have a great life. There are lots of visitors all the time and receive plenty of love and often some really nice treats too. All is good now.

Sonja from Germany is now looking after me. Thank you!

DOLITO (male)

Together with a few other dogs I live at the DRCS in Chaweng but unlike most other dogs, I live outside the main gates. There is always food and water here as well as some protected places to sleep under. I love my freedom and love the thought of being able to walk to the market if I chose so. All the people in the area are used to a lot of dogs and therfore there is no danger for us around here.

Annette from Germany is now looking after me. Thank you very much!

AMELIE (female)

My name is Amelie, born in the beginning of 2015 and I have been here at the shelter since I was a very small puppy. Kathrin from Germany is now looking after me. Thank you very much!

MADINA (female)

Actually there is no good reason why my sister Rhea and I should be at this Rescue Center. We are healthy and happy and loved our freedom. I guess the people where we stayed just wanted to get rid of us and then contacted the DRCS. Of course the DRCS refused to take us in (as there is no reason for us to go to the shelter) and so we were just dumped outside the main gate of the shelter. Nobody knows where we come from and we do not know the way back home. I guess we have no chance now but try and get settled.

Josee from Icking in Germany is now looking after me. Thank you very much!

LAMBO (male)

I have been at the shelter for quite a few years now still, nobody has really managed to properly train me. If I like somone I can be a real cute cuddle bear but if dislike a person....grrrr...probably the best to stay away from me. Otherwise it can happen that i come pinch you a little. However, all in all I'm a pretty cool little limping doggie. That bloody car accident really left its markes.

Brigitte from Germany is now looking after me. Thank you very much!

DONALD SONG (male)

I have been at the Rescue Center for over 2 years now and can hardly believe how very handsome I’ve become. As you can see in the picture-that was not always the case. I used to live on the mainland and was brought over by an animal friend who took me into the shelter in Smaui. Today I’m TopFit and the ladies are loving me!

Susanne, Anicia and Berit from Denmark are now looking after me. Thank you very much!

FLORA (female)

Avari, Davina and I came to the DRCS on the same day and from the exact same place. We used to live in a little resort in the Maenam Area where life was pretty good for us and hardly any dogs around. We were properly vaccinated and taken care for. Then all of a sudden we were picked up and apparently only brought to the shelter to be neutered. But after the operation we learned that our little resort will be closed soon and the new owner of the land would not allow us to come back there. That's why we are still here. But it's actually quite ok at Brigitte and Werners place, always something going on and the food is first class.

Shari is now looking after me. Thank you very much!

NADINE (female)

Nadine was brought to the animal shelter by her owner. She was extremely skinny. At least the Thai took her to us and didn't expose her to the streets. She is very fearful and doesn't feel good here. She probably would prefer exchanging food for her own family.

Jacqueline from Germany is now looking after me. Thank you very much!

TOMMY (male)

I live at the small shelter in Chaweng in Brigitte and Werners house and love it here. The garden is amazing and full of beautiful plants to hide in. The Fish party at night is the coolest and often I even sleep in a real bed. I am happy to have found a sponsor and so I can stay here as long as I want.....thank you!

Ulrike from Magdeburg in Germany is now looking after me. Thank you very much!

RABUS (male)

Finally the itching has stopped and my suffering has come to an end! For month I was walking around on the streets, almost naked and covered with wounds. Many of them already infected or full of maggots. I was so very thankful when I was brought to the Rescue Center. Even though it’s very likely that I will never grow fur again, the itching has stopped and the wounds closed. I feel like newly born!

I was very lucky to found a new home on Koh Samui.

During my time at the shelter, Josee from Germany were looking after me. Thank you very much!

During my time at the shelter, Michelle from Luxenburg were looking after me. Thank you very much!

SINCLAIR (male)

Me and my kitten-friends were all chased into a corner, thrown into a box and dropped at the DRCS. There were many cat families where we used to stay - too many I guess and the owners of the Bungalows wanted to get rid of us. He didn't get us all and thankfully stopped after filling up two bags with us kittens. It all doesnt matter now, we are happy at the DRCS and perhaps we will find a new family one day....

Michelle from Luxenburg is now looking after me. Thank you very much!

GINA LISA (female)

I live here in the house of Brigitte and Werner and love to get spoiled. It was pretty great to meet my new 'caretaker' the other day. Jacqui came to visit the shelter and spontaneously took over the sponsorship for me. Thank you very much, was great to meet you Jacqui!

Jacqui from Australia is now looking after me. Thank you very much!

BARAKO (male)

My name is Barako and I came to the DRCS in Baan Taling Ngam as a puppy so I've grown up there. I was mangy and starving and took a long time to get better. Unfortunately I was too ugly to be adopted as a puppy and when I did get better I was no longer a puppy so no-one wanted me. Now I'm strong healthy and handsome and I like my life.

I was very lucky and found a new home on Koh Samui. During my time in the shelter, Rosalie from Maisach in Germany was looking after me. Thank you very much!

HERZILEIN (SWEETHEART) (female)

Herzilein ran away and now Mameau is taking care of her remaining kitten. We hope she will come back.

I ran away: I do not need a sponsor anymore.

Polly Poodle before and after a visit to Daeng's Beauty Salon

POLLY POODLE (female)

I was found by Dany from Divepoint - I had been serious neglected by my owners. I had been allowed to have too many puppies, my right eye was seriously injured and my front right paw had been damaged. I stayed down at the big shelter for a while and the vet operated on me, taking out my right eye, making sure I wouldn't have any more puppies, and he dressed my paw. My ears were also cleaned out (they were very smelly). Brigitte would not let me go back to my owners as she didn't trust them to look after me so I was brought up to her house in Chaweng where I now live. Apart from the bath and the dubious haircut, I'm very happy here. I usually hide away in the shadows until my favourite people come to visit - that's Brigitte, Werner, all the volunteers and all the helpers. I've put on weight since I came here and I am threatened with a visit to Weightwatchers. I stayed at Brigitte's house for a long time. Allison, a voluntary helper for many years, took me home every weekend. She works in Surat Thani and therefore she could only take me on the weekends when she was on Koh Samui. After I had spent a few weekends with her I decided to go for long walks. One day I just did not return. I am a very sweet poodle who can make friends easily!

While I stayed at the shelter, Brigitte and Peter from Erkrath in Germany were looking after me (they fell in love with me when they visited the shelter). Thank you very much.

HEIDI SONG (female)

After an accident, I was brought to DRCS. First the vet thought that my back legs were completely paralysed because I couldn't move properly. However, every day I got special injections and after a week I managed to move a bit. Every day one of the volunteers gave me special physiotherapy and for a while I had to wear special bandages on my back feet. I can now walk really well.

Great news: I have found a new home on Koh Samui. While I was at the shelter Eva and Henning from Karlsruhe, Germany were looking after me.

MANOLITA (female)

I was living nearby a school in Chaweng together with my mom and my three sisters Antonita, Maria and Lolita. One day our mother didn't return home and the school teachers were of the opinion that it would be better for us to be brought to the DRCS. There were also some dogs running around the school which could eat us alive. In Brigitte's house there were at least 40 cats at that time and they were not so happy about having to share the fish. For the first hours we were scared. It is great to have sisters at the hour of need. But after a short time we settled in well. There are always mothers who still have milk and we are always very eager to get some of it. Now we are all searching for a sponsor or a new home on Koh Samui. But it won't be easy to rehome us since we are neither three-coloured nor blue-eyed. The standard grey-white model is not very much in demand. But I do not want to mourn, we all live happily together here.

After a heavy storm during the monsoon, a big palm tree leaf has damaged the fence around the cat house and Manolita has escaped. We hope she's find herself a good life out there...

Daniela and Claus from Vienna in Austria were looking after me during my time at the shelter. Thank you very much!

MITZI (weiblich)

I arrived at the shelter completely naked. Exactly where I came from, I don't think anyone knew. But that was the least of everyones worries. I had no fur at all, a lot of open wounds everywhere on my body. Now I have settled in well in the shelter. Everythingexcept my tail tip has fur again and I feel at home here at the shelter. I've founjd a lot of new friends and playmates here in the shelter.

Carina aus Österreich will in Zukunft für mich sorgen. Vielen Dank!

LIZZY (female)

I was brought to the shelter by my owners because they had just had a baby and, because I was very curious about the baby and wanted to kiss her all over, my owners thought this wasn’t a good idea so brought me here. [Incidentally, baby toys taste really nice, especially when chewed up into a million pieces.] I now live at the shelter with lots of other doggies but, alas, no babies or babies’ toys to play with. My favourite hobbies now are looking cute and chewing the shoes of anyone in the compound.

After a while it got too boring for me at the shelter and I decided to take my life in my own paws. While I was living at the DRCS Angelica from Sweden was taking care of me. Thank you very much!

TIRAK (female)

I came to the DRCS when I was about 6 weeks old because I was found helpless and lonely on the ring road. Brigitte fell in love immediately when she saw me. She is very fond of three-coloured cats. But she is not the only person to have this liking. We are also called lucky cats! I was named TIRAK, how beautiful! Tirak is Thai and means „my darling“. I do not have to worry about my future since I am not only very pretty but also very affectionate. There are many cats of my age at Brigitte's house and it never gets boring.

Jipee! I found a new home on Koh Samui. While I was living at the DRCS, Dorothee and Klaus-Peter from Nufringen in Germany were looking after me. Thank you very much.

Chico jumping the wall to get back into the compound!
CHICO (male)

I lived around some bungalows in Maenam but, in that area, all the dogs and cats are regularly poisoned. An animal-loving tourist took me to the big DRCS shelter at Ban Taling Ngam. However, there weren't enough people there to amuse me so I kept jumping the wall and chasing the cats. Brigitte brought me to her house at Chaweng and there I share the compound with the very old and sick dogs. Here, it is no problem for me to get the best place to sit. I am very strong and healthy and I chase all the other dogs away. After the last fight, I was put outside the compound but I jumped the wall to get back in (they can't outwit me!).

I found a home on Koh Samui I am very affectionate to all humans - I just drive humans nuts because I chase all other animals away.

JESSICA (female)

Karin and Peter from Birrwil in Switzerland are now looking after me. Thank you very much. Karin and Peter own the Restaurant Buurenstube in Birrwil. Why don't you have a look: www.buurestube-birrwil.ch
